Afk timer on the Mourningstar

Why such a ruthless afk kick timer on the Mourningstar? It cant cost that much bandwidth or whatever to leave people alone when they afk at the mission hub.

I like seeing lots of people at quest hubs on online games it makes the game and environment feel alive. If you kick everyone constantly game feels empty sometimes.

Anyhow if you let people sit around in your new cosmetic items maybe you will sell more of them

I always though that the Mourningstar feels a lot like a modern day mall.

It’s a big open hub with maybe three or four places to buy things, a ton of closed outlets, and the only reason it really exists is so you can see what everyone else is wearing disguized as a social space.

They could add a new level to the game where you sweep the ship for taint or infiltration. Might make it feel more like a huge ship like it is supposed to be.

Zero point in a kick timer since there’s never more than 5 others on the Morningstar.

I’m fairly certain the kick timer doesn’t appear to time your afk in the meat-grinder though

This is correct. You can AFK in the Meat Grinder for a long time (hours). I wouldn’t recommend it however. You still have to load back into the Mourningstar before starting a mission or checking the store. The only thing this saves is the launcher and intro screen load time.

Performance tends to degrade when the game is open for a long time, so AFK in the Meat Grinder may just cause memory/performance issues anyway.

Pretty sure meat grinder is local host, since you leave the strike team. Kind of makes you wonder why solo private games would be hard to implement though.

They could make it so when you afk instead of getting disconnected you are dumped into a mess room with all the other afk people sitting at tables or lying in a bunk  then when you come back you go to a door or a lift that takes you back to the bridge.

Could put mini games in there for people waiting for that one guy missing from their strike team.

maybe serve cornbread for the ogryn

That sounds kind of like what they advertised with the social hub. Games and interactions. Getting moved to the afk server sounds like a treat.

Solo private games are not a thing because of the bot AI. They can’t help with carrying canisters. They can’t hack terminals. They can’t use an auspex. They don’t prioritize protecting you when carrying/hacking/scanning. They don’t focus on the demon eyes. A lot of the finales of missions involve working on an objective while dealing with hordes, which will distract the bots causing them to fall behind and breaking coherency for the player.

I dont think they’re waiting with releasing it due to underperforming bot ai. The game itself doesn’t need any cooperation in terms of finiahing objectives. It’s all carry one container at a time or push one button at a time. FS never prioritized bots.

Honestly before we learned of enclavum baross I had hoped the unannounced zone was the mourningstar or the tancred bastion, reclaiming areas from the heretics and mutineers.

Gruen Transfer.

I think judging by the cinematics they did plan some sort of incursion onto the ship that you help defeat and that’s why the guy promotes you at the end… well does not shoot you anyway

Would have made the little story make a bit more sense

Doesn’t change the fact it’s not hard to implement it. That assertion is false.
They even addressed this. They COULD implement it at the same time as the private lobbies for strike teams.

But they weren’t happy with the state of SOLO play. Which have people assume it’s because of the bots because that’s the only thing that could affect Solo play working properly.

Is this in reaponse to someone else? I’m confused. I don’t think I’ve written anything in regards to solo being hard to implement.

Here, maybe I misinterpreted it though? But to me that reads it’s hard to implement on a technical or logistic manner, which I wanted to clarify wasn’t the problem with solo lobbies. And now re-reading my own post it can sound a bit aggressive, which was unnecessary.

My thoughts exactly. If I have to sit through 10 minutes of load screen you best not be kicking me off after 5 minutes of making myself a sandwich.
