i have feeling that you dont bother a lot with fixing bugs on darktide. pc players are already in too much advantage. please fix bugs there is very few ps player above havoc 20 in compare to pc.
i dont think we are that much worse players, allow at least changing stupid controls per wish,so many things you have to press on controler literally stop moving. make some kind of mode where you can customize more!!! meat grinder for example is another stupid thing there why bots cant move… whats the point we can hit walls also while testing weapons.
you need to expand settings in general,i believe you have enough players even on consoles but you will lose them for sure if you dont make changes.
listen if you want
its not hard to switch to another bloody game, but i like Darktide
hmm maybe, just maybe, because the game was made for pc (and finally some dev that acknowledged the fact a pc a more suitable platform for a fast paced shooter, go figure) with a proper gpu at roughly 3x the price of a breadbox
damn right one should have an “advantage” and 240+fps when a good rig costs 5k+
“too much advantage” my ass, too many games dumbed down so a hilariously inferior hardware can somehow get 30fps on tank controls…
consoles have been the bane of game development ever since someone though “hey its a great idea to port that shooter over and make more ”
(console port came, horde size went down, coincidence? or feeble hardware sweating at the sight of those enemy numbers?)
until then one would gladly buy a new rig each year and have a substantial gain in performance, nowadays its stagnation for 4-5 years cause console generations otherwise cant keep up.
and im saying this having had about every console (chipped for us and jap imports) with the exception of 3DO and neogeo, but for the appropriate games : beat em ups & survival horror etc.
never would spend money on a console and think : thats gonna compete with a 5090 for sure.
this is aimed at the “too many advantages”, not the fact consoles got bugs, they should be fixed.
though honestly it should never have been ported to consoles in the first place, fking sony being the reason i need a mod to dismember enemies post mortem on PC cause some damn pssy censorship rules to fill the trough for the masses.
I think he is not referring to performance, but rather some in game mechanics that are limited on console. Not being able to make their own control layout is straight up diabolical and only the fault of the developers. Console players can’t even use Zealot throwing knifes without playing a specific layout because they have to let go of the right stick with most of them. Many mods that would be so simple to implement by fatshark are not getting implemented by the excuse of “if players want them, they can download the mod” which is just dumping on console players heads. Chat Block mod is a perfect example of that.
Some of my friends are console players and certain things are just unnecessary bad on console. No need to talk down on him for asking for improvements.
I play on Xbox and honestly it’s not a huge deal except for borderline cheat mods, stuff like chat block, UI customizers and loading qol stuff could be features but I’m not bothered
“too many advantages” just gets my tempers up for ive been building my own rigs together since pentium 90 times.
while having mortal kombat and the like on console it aint an “advantage” but logical consequence if i pay 10x the amount i get a more suited platform.
if anything its thanks to consoles that pc is behind where it could be, something ill never forgive.
so yeah, the hate for the breadboxes is real here
if people would collectively say, “nope aint buying a console for shooters” we would be lighyears ahead and not stagnate like we do now.
its the cheap “teenager solution”, spending the first fragment NOW rather than saving up for a pc.
then what? sony has people pay for online gaming and charges 70 something for games…
save up your resources, get some 3-4k together and your good, besides getting game keys for around 20-30 on resellers
ill never understand the appeal of slouching on a couch either, couldnt pull a decent clutch if not stiff upright and teeth clenched.
its like saying the porsche has too many advantages over a rust bucket thats barely keeping pace on the highway but cost a fraction…
yes, bugs should be fixed, i wrote that too, control’s for that matter i put into the bug category.
but if someone takes an educated choice and spends a substantial sum that aint “too much” of an advantage but the minimum result of said investment.
sadly devs calculate the cheaper consoles to be more appealing and thus we end up with the problems we got right now.
if i could time travel there would never have been a doom port for snes and sega 32x for it all started with this atrocity
Nope, but by nature I would imagine there is more casual players, controls are subpar when compared to K&M, and console performance doesn’t help. I have met few decent console players in high Havoc, but those factors don’t help.
I play with one guy in our group that is on PS5 and he handles his business mostly but does gravitate towards things that are easier for him to perform
if I was on ps5, I would post a thread every day until they got keyboard and mouse support, afaik it doesn’t have it
sure, about fixing bugs, this much i conceded right out of the box.
but at that price difference no advantage would be “too much”
granted, this year prices are ass, then again i dont “waste” my money on stuff like expensive food, more clothing than i got legs&feet to ever wear, the car is “practical” and some t-shirts of mine are bound to be older than the majority of guys around here
my “vacation” i enjoy gaming or recently painting my figures.
so its still possible to afford the hobby without robbing a bank if the priorities are set “right”
if i toss away my cash every weekend at cheap booze and cheaper chicks…
like the old GDR “trabant”, they shouldn’t have released it at all.
calling it a car in name only, expectations couldnt possibly meet the lowest realistic performance reality, yet still be ridiculously overpriced for the product one would get.
meanwhile every “west car” would leave it in the dust after even looking at the pedals
fun fact : pc and dreamcast servers for quake 3 were “crossplay” for a short while.
very short for the mere fact that we would stand on the heads of the gamepadders or run circles around them without them ever being able to catch up.
it was literally shooting fish in a barrel, or rather clubbing them with the “pummel”
dunno if its still up but back in the day there was a funny video “diaries of a gamepadder”
why someone would willingly pick such a platform in the first place for this genre is beyond me
You know what I think… you can read it between the lines
I agree that the console port was the worst idea ever. They transformed a horde game into a coop game… we have seen tiny hordes, so tiny that I am not sure we can label that a horde.
And to compensate, they increased the elite spawns by a lot…
I really feel the old Darktide with the endless horde condition. Not sure, however, that it could run on a console.
And I believe so much in console that I try to sell my Xbox serie X and have built a computer for my son.
However, I can understand the OP about bug fixes. However, he should not expect to be able to play like a PC player. A gamepad does not allow you to be as efficient as a PC player that use keyboard and mouse. Proof… my son was playing with a gamepad. Once I delivered the computer he told me that he wanted to play only with a keyboard and mouse…
pirx’ and my moment came (and until then we played primarily on keyboard, NEVER with a pad on pc) in quake 1 map 3 where you have to descend a round staircase while keeping aim at flying scrags.
keyboard was forward…pause…turn…pause…etc
but we saw a demo of someone going down in a smooooth movement.
cause the monkey dont believe what he cant touch we said to ourselves “this must be pre-rendered”, no way someone moving that accurately.
buuut monkey brain was moving so…
in an epic space odyssey moment we discovered the magic of mouse-sensitivity (and the rest is history)
ironically i played terminator future shock some weeks prior for it was released earlier than quake and it HAD forced mouse movement, even invert aim which i use to this day for i couldn’t turn it off back then and it “stuck”
so i deemed the mouselook there “inferior” to keyboard when playing faster shooter games
but never in a million years would i touch a pad and say “this feels right for fps games”
had an atari 2600 in 1986, a c64 in 1988 and ever onward pc and console served two different purposes
Amstrad 6128
Atari 520 st that I upgraded to 1MB RAM!!! So basically, for the game Civilization, I made it a Atari 1040 ste!
Old times…
Let’s not hijack this thread.
This guy is really right at wanting to see his game fixed. While we can understand all PCs are different and so there are a lot of bugs on a PC, this should not happen with a console.
PS5 you can buy XIM adapter to use mouse and keyboard. It also allows full freedom on mapping buttons. Still need PC to initially configure DPI, Polling rate first to onboard memory via software but once saved, don’t need software anymore. However if go that route best to check with XIM support if it works on Darktide.
I don’t play with controller but I think one of the worst FPS design was using left stick to push vertically down to activate sprint then push forward must be a nightmare on thumb fatigue. I mean left analog stick is…analog so stick push distance should offer the granular control of walk vs sprint i.e half stick push should activate sprint. So I would look to remap that to another digital button for ease of continuous use.
The default layout for controller is not good as dodge and jump on same button. So would be better to look at other layouts to keep them separate. God knows how many times I’ve seen someone suddenly jump upwards to an incoming mutie…
Another option is at OS level of console i.e. Xbox accessories App or PS5 accessibility option. You can actually remap buttons before loading into game.
Then I advice any PS5 player that wants to take seriously Darktide to play with a keyboard and mouse.
Of course… if it works as you pointed it…
An other reason why I try to sell my xbox. I tried to play with keyboard and mouse for games that require precision… and it was not really working good (understand it was buggy as hell)
