er, you’re not supposed to wait till he struggles with maintaining the zoom in. but that’s another topic i guess
this is my experience as well. i feel that you guys complaining have not seen the true potential of good huntsman players. the fact is, he’s a class that scales very well with player skill, and for that reason i feel he is balanced.
really wish i could get you to play with one of the guys on my friends list, ‘kiange’ or something, he’s an absolute beast with the huntsman and you definitely won’t be able to get much green circles with him around, even as pyro. ah well.
First off, you don’t know me, second off you’re prolly under performing if a huntsman is doing better than you on Pyro, but given what you have posted thus far that doesn’t entirely surprise me. Also weren’t you one of the people saying huntsman was underwhelming in 1.0.7?
first off, never said i knew you, second off, that is precisely why i wish people could play with the guy i said because they don’t believe a pyro can be outdone by a huntsman, and no, i never said huntsman was underwhelming in 1.0.7, i have always stated that huntsman is a very good class that good players can maximise very well.
i know i can’t persuade you or anyone else that’s convinced the huntsman is an underperforming class, so i just hope that one day you’ll meet a really good one that will give you a run for your money and change your mind.
Huntsman can outdo everyone if they aren’t playing well.
eh, i typed a really long response but decided against it. believe what you will, same for me.
Its posts like yours which make discussing any sort of balance in this game next to impossible, you can’t base your assumptions on a class from personal experience with one (or even multiple) person(s), if we all did that I would think Ironbreaker and BH are terrible and need buffs, which clearly isn’t the case.
If you want facts I suggest trying out various classes on the modded realm where you can see just pure damage numbers. In addition I could list numerous reasons as to why other classes should be out performing huntsman post 1.0.8, Falchion for example does excellent anti armor and cleave but doesn’t give the movement drawback of a halberd which is critical for ranged. Crossbow does more damage per shot than longbow. BH has a higher rate of crits, BH active can 1 shot up to 2 CWs, ect ect ect. These are all facts, and given those facts among other its safe to say BH is at an advantage.
no, what YOU are doing is pushing your own set of agenda that makes discussion impossible for balance because you are absolutely convinced that the huntsman is an underperforming class with respect to all variables involved. think about it, you’re beating me down in order to promote your opinion now. i do not agree and posit cases stating that if a class scales well with skill level, then it is a balanced class and people who are underperforming on it need to get more experience on it. i’m not the only one who feels this way.
you are arguing that he’s unbalanced, while i’m arguing that he IS balanced at this point. honestly i feel that other characters like the WHC need to be focused on, not the huntsman.
well to me it sounds a bit like your saying Hobo is only the third most OP class now so needs buffs.
personally i feel his still way op and him and the couple ahead of him need more nerfing not buffing.
Oh, right, you’re not supposed to use the zoom on your dead accurate weapon, you are supposed to use it’s super dead accurate spread it has to begin with.
Another thought cross my mind, regarding the huntsman. He does worse in all ranged/all mobile compositions, because he needs someone to make room for him and protect in meele. You can’t shoot well in close range, like BH or mages, and you do not great in meele combat. So on paper best friends you can have are IB, FK and Merc - not very mobile linemen, who would just make a wall in front. But, obviously, you can’t have FK or Merc on your team if you play HS. Best you can get are some IB, Slayers, Zealots, HM and probably Shade (but more mobile careers tend to jump around chaotically, instead of holding things for you to shoot), Unchained is good, but doesn’t enjoy meele either. But when you queue up in regular PUG and see WS, Pyro and BH in your team, you know you will struggle to find a home in the game. I think what could actually help HS is to give for non-Kruber heroes more linemen options with low mobility, but good croud control, simmilar to what FK/Merc does. Give Zealot creepy slow two-handed flail, give Sienna a shield and give Kerillian wierd 150-base HP meele non-mobile career with some warcry-type active, and huntsman will be much better.
Better than pyro? A really, really bad beam pyro? Because if you’re straight faced trying to tell me that a good HS player will outperform a good Pyro player, than you’re really just showing you don’t know what you’re talking about at all.
Funny how you and others keep talking about these other mythical HS players that just outperforms everyone on anything, yet none of these people are on the forums, and none of you apparantly play HS to anywhere near that level yourself.
Comparisons to other players are meaningless. The only comparison you can do is to yourself, what you can do with different careers.
I bet if I spent a lot of time and effort, I could become really good with WHC and steal most green circles in most PUGs. I would also bet that even though I’d mostly come ahead in pugs, I’d never perform as good as I would on other careers. Thus, WHC would be underpowered compared to other careers.
Very much like how people can’t get HS to perform anywhere near what they can on a host of other careers. That there exists 3 players out there that can, doesn’t make it balanced, and is a really poor argument to use.
I am a really good huntsman, I could spam this thread with posts of me having every green circle but damage taken up against BHs, Pyros, Waystalkers, ect, but its meaningless they just aren’t playing to their full ability, play with a Saltzpire like Brother Frank and within seconds it becomes obvious the differences in class. When running with good players things like weapon speed and class bonus make a big difference. For example, his BH has a faster rate of fire with crossbow than I do with LB, he can body storms with his 10% armor 10% skaven, and frequently refreshes ammo via blessed. Cycling blessed shots + his anti armor and crit makes it so he can 3 shot CWs consistently where as LB I have to pray for crits even with active or headshots it takes longer overall. Furthermore falcion provides anti armor and good horde clear with block canceling attacks but also grants mobility unlike halberd, to get the same mobility I would have to run 1h sword or mace which overall is a less effective weapon. I could go on and on, but I feel like I would be wasting my time.
Huntsman is “fine” in so far that he can do legend just like everyone else but if you are frequently out performed by HS in games you should ask that player for tips or get better situational awareness.
eh, believe what you will. imo, you guys are not playing the class at it’s maximum potential, the way i see it getting described.
Why cant fs just bring him back to the way he was in 1.07.
I don’t think Kruber in general is in a bad spot, no. It’s just that there are certain careers which are simply too strong aka overpowered. If you look at BH and Pyro, they’re the real problem. There are 15 careers in the game and these two are the embodiment of low risk (due to being ranged) high reward (due to being able to deal with pretty much everything effectively). If you stop comparing Kruber to them and to a certain degree to Shade, you will suddenly realise that he’s quite balanced when compared to the rest of the cast.
Kruber has 4 decent melee weapons and halberd isn’t the only good choice and I don’t think it’s even the best one. The problem is that despite having so many melee weapons almost half of them is not just not viable but straight up trash. 1h sword, sword+shield, mace+shield, 2h sword. And guess what they have in common? They’re all terrible against armor and bosses despite barely (if at all) being better vs hordes.
Also, what genuinely bothers me about huntsman design, however, is the next thing.
His longbow has terrible accuracy when compared to elven one. So it is hard to consistently pull off headshots at long ranges. But for some reason it is huntsman who has to headshot stuff in order to get his ammo back, and not the elf who has almost a pin-point accuracy when aiming. Instead elf basically gets ammo for free with zero effort.
you’re not supposed to wait for kruber to get fatigued by maintaining his long draw. just before he zooms in, release and it will be dead accurate. there was someone else arguing over this with me, saying that the zoomed in shot shouldnt be so widely inaccurate, but that’s just the way it is i suppose.
For some reason you assume that I don’t know about this but you’re wrong. Now go ahead and compare the accuracy between elven longbow and krubers one. Kruber’s is significantly less accurate.
I would say Kruber looks pretty damn weak compared to Zealot, Slayer, WS, unchained, iron breaker, handmaiden.
So a bit more than just BH Pyro shade.
