The problem is exactly the probability of cosmetic items being included in a chest.
Its the reason people developed and used certain tools in Vermintide 1 to give themselves cosmetics and weapons in the first place.
The % chance of cosmetics dropping needs to be way higher and equal across the board for all players. There shouldn’t be such a disparity between cosmetic drops among the population, its pretty damn ridiculous .
That’s just it, the chance is the same for everyone. But the nature of randomness is that some people will get a lucky streak, while some will get an unlucky one. I agree, there shouldn’t be as large a disparity as there is, but that’s what the proposed and wished-for bad luck protection methods are for.
I’ve opened commendation chests on for example Ironbreaker when I had no Ironbreaker hats and got hats for Slayer instead. I’ve also had the same happen when openening on Waystalker with no hats, got a hat for handmaiden instead.
I had thought that it would only give you hats for the class you open the chest with, as that was the case for the first few hats I opened before the patch that added in the additional hats. So maybe something changed with that.
They actually have talked about adding in protection from bad luck RNG. We’ll see if it happens though.
They already said “Open your chests we’re happy with drop rates and won’t change them again” so at this point it would be too little too late. They’d be better off just awarding players a free hat per 50 levels their characters have or something like that.
That’s always been the case. What was supposed to happen, is if you unlock all the hats for one character, meaning, the 3 WS hats, 3 HM hats and 3 Shades hats, you should get a hat for a new character. I have not seen this happen yet. I’m guessing I’m one of the few people with all the hats unlocked for 1 character so I’m just wondering if the system is actually working properly.
