They could ban us
But I’ll say fatshark are way better than creative assembly.
Thank you for reskins fatshark
I really appreciate the 5 minutes of effort of changing a cosmetic colour from black to blue
It’s really something we should be grateful to our corporate overlords for because corporations are our friends right?
I don’t understand how being misled into a year of early access quality game is supposed to be a privilege we should thank FS for. The state Darktide was in on launch, basically up until Patch 13, was unacceptable for a game marketed as feature complete and I’m honestly surprised FS hasn’t been hit with a false advertising suit about it by now.
I certainly would have preferred knowing I’d be buying into an early access period when I bought the game last year, I’d have held off my purchase if I did.
it would take a good chunk before we even get close to any news on that, you know how corpos love to stall…
well it would probably not be open to public. but there were some who claimed they going to file a class action lawsuit.
i wonder if they actually did…
Kinda crazy how mad people are about this lol… I mean, it’s free stuff. C’mon. It’s free stuff that they didn’t have to give you, but they did anyway…
If I buy a wheelbarrow from Tubby’s Tools & Trinkets, and a few months later Tubby’s has a promotion where you get a free donut with the purchase of a wheelbarrow, no one would reasonably expect Tubby’s to ALSO give free donuts to all the randos who happened to buy wheelbarrows before the promotion. That’s just not how promotional deals work. So, keeping this in mind, if Tubby’s nevertheless decides to offer me a donut hole for being a loyal customer, the appropriate reaction is “hey, thanks Tubby, you’re alright – you didn’t have to give me anything but you did!” rather than incandescent raging about OMG TUBBY SCAMMED ME BECAUSE I DIDN’T GET A DONUT I HATE YOU TUBBY YOU SUCK AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT
You want to go into Analogy Land?
Tubby’s got a string of businesses, and never learns from his mistakes. He gouges people on prices but sells goods that are, in general, so good that people don’t mind shelling out for it.
Well, his new tool shop isn’t doing so hot, but the man’s an institution! So the community gathers around, shops at his store, some contractors give him some pointers to fix the place up, and maybe a couple of people cut him a loan or two to stay afloat - after all, the man does eventually come around once he gets his feet under him (again, say the people who’ve been watching this).
Then the store gets renovated, and hey, everyone’s really happy! Except…well, Tubby’s decided to market to the out-of-towners instead, and he’s offering a free wheelbarrow to everyone from out of town who shops there!
And the people who’ve been helping Tubby out all this time? Well, they start asking what Tubby’s doing for them.
And Tubby freezes for a good while. Couple minutes, actually, and people start muttering. Then Tubby goes ‘okay, how about I give all of y’all discounts on CheapCo tools!’
That ain’t what people wanted. They just wanted to know why, if he’s handing out wheelbarrows, he’s doing it for newcomers rather than the people who helped him out.
And then those people get mad.
Oh good, I gave up halfway through my own overwrought Tubby analogy. I’ll just add that I’m not too psyched about Tubby’s free donuts when everybody can immediately tell he just slapped some fresh icing on a batch of stale old donuts he tried to sell me a few weeks earlier. I’d rather he just sell me a decent wheelbarrow from the start and not have to put up with his BS. Luckily there are plenty other shops in town, I hear Karl’s Rock and Stone Emporium is expanding soon.
Tbh I don’t think your more in-depth version of the analogy changes anything. Yeah, it sucks when latecomers are offered a special deal, but that’s the reality of promotional deals. Businesses quite regularly offer newcomers deals that aren’t also offered to existing customers, and it’s hard to think of a case where your story wouldn’t apply – existing customers can always be said to have “helped out” the business just by being there earlier. Idk, I just think it’s a pretty normal thing for businesses to do / isn’t that big of a deal in and of itself. Imo the remarkable thing is that Fatshark is actually going out on a limb and saying “ok ok, existing customers get some free stuff too!” – which is, again, above-and-beyond for this sort of thing – and people are absolutely LIVID with them for it. Like…guys, they didn’t have to give us ANYTHING. A “normal” business probably wouldn’t, and probably none of their customers would realistically expect anything.
You’re ignoring the, “on release it was a buggy, broken, incomplete mess,” part of the analogy and most of the arguments on why people aren’t happy about the situation.
Thousands of people played at launch and for the past year for dozens and hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours.
We will never be made whole. Justice will never be served. Woe be the gamer.
Yeah, I have 250 crash reports from just the 2 weeks from beta to launch. There should be some acknowledgement.
They could have had thousands more and more if they didn’t drop the ball continuously on release, on PR, on comms, on stability, on performance, on design, on monetisation over everything else, on QoL, on the port, etc. etc.
I want Fatshark to be better, but they institutionally seem unable to learn from any of their or anyone else’s (cough mission board cough) past mistakes.
Yea I mean I was here at release too and have also submitted a bunch of bug reports etc. It was definitely a mess back then. But like… I also bought stuff from Amazon in the early days of Amazon, when it wasn’t a polished experience like it is today. But I wouldn’t expect them to give me a bunch of free stuff just because I was their customer way back when. And if they did so anyway, I assume I’d feel surprised and happy about it? Hypothetical situation b/c Amazon obviously isn’t giving me free stuff, because they’re a normal business and normal businesses kinda don’t do that, so
But we should get back to the Tubby’s Tools & Trinkets analogy, b/c that one was really going places
But they do? They still give out free Amazon prime sporadically, and sometimes the deals for new subscribers get applied to existing subs. It’s called customer appreciation and Fatshark tries but fails at it.
Do they? Idk, I definitely pay for mine… but maybe if I got really mad at them about THE INJUSTICE OF THE PRESENT SITUATION and posted lots of clown emojis etc on their forums they would give me some free prime
Yeah, I get emails every few months that give a free month of Prime, and Amazon did have the reputation that they throw quite a bit of stuff towards complaints, though I haven’t shopped with them for a while now, so no idea if that’s still the case.
It’s more that Fatshark is almost comically tone deaf with their attempts at customer appreciation.
Wait, so… you’re saying that you’re being offered free prime… because you’re not an amazon customer… and I’m not being offered free prime… because I am an amazon customer??? I FEEL THE RAGE BUILDING GOD DAMN YOU AMAZON WHERE’S MY FREE PRIME???
And when I cancel the auto renewal they always try to offer a discount on the next x months too.
Fatshark’s action is comparatively like Amazon sending you something you don’t want but it has the “value” of a month of prime.
That has to be the dumbest take on this topic, good lord.
“Thanks for giving me something I didn’t ask for”
What, do you go to a restaurant, order a steak and then get a salad instead, complain that you didn’t get what you wanted and the server tells you to be grateful that you got anything at all?
GTFO with that bullsh!t.
i gotta say the amount of malding over fatshark giving out free stuff is staggering
look yes 14k aquilas is much nicer than some random skins that they packaged but some of you are acting like fatshark hit the pentagon when in reality they gave out free stuff, and as an apology for not giving everyone the free stuff, gave out more free stuff
(and yes before anyone says, if i had a choice i’d take the aquilas too but these skins still look fine like come on)
