I have played lots auric mission here, I found out there is a incredible high usage of flamer on every zealots I see, and to be honest I think they rely on flamer too much just like plasma gun, it’s just solve everything as how op it is, I think zealot is designed for more melee combat style isn’t it?
I believe I’ve seen a total of two (2) flamers in Auric missions (and 2 regular damnation missions) in the past 2 weeks, which admittedly wasn’t my most active time.
In 50% of those two cases, it was effective.
I’ve seen significantly more Psykers use flames.
So, uhh… maybe? Apparently very few people seem to think so.
I would say it’s fine on higher difficulties. Flamer’s mobility is horrible, 2 short doges is a joke, especially on Maelstroms with waves of specials.
It’s designed to represent religious zealot and Ecclesiarchy church, all his skilltree branches represent it.
Lately nerf threads are popping up faster than mushrooms after the rain.
This is 100% a humour intended post.
I approve.
Let’s go next with… let’s see now, what haven’t we done this last couple of weeks? Oooh.
The SHOCK MAUL! It’s OP and needs a nerf! Man, it electrifies things. It’s like a smite stick that trivialises game content on Auric Maelstrom. I can solo AurM with it.
First, We do duo 69w auric mael with maul zealot, I think the weapon is fine, and I do post this thread not for 100% humor because I see too many zealot play their flamer like a gunlugger, and it is just hard to see how low level player and those high level have such a poor ammo efficiency as little they know about using their melee.
I play a lot of different levels from 4 through to AM as I’ve a few separate groups I play with at different abilities.
I think in the last month I’ve seen one Flame Thrower used. And used sparingly.
It’s a weapon currently without real purpose. No zealot lacks for horde clearing melee options. And the Flamer’s damage, ammo capacity, equip speed, mobility and range are all horrible. The purgatus staff is superior in every way, including peril build up (as you can then use the vent to add extra damage).
If you genuinely think it’s overpowered then I’d politely ask you to share your game time, and some videos of someone trivialising your game. To my knowledge, it is ineffective against anything other than trash mobs, and certainly does little to the hundreds of elites that occur in higher level games.
Thank the throne for that.
First, I have 1586 hours in total, and I main on my zealot which is currently 30 (+970) I guess is decent playtime? I spend 80% of my time to play us west with randoms on auric and with non meta bd such as tactical axe and maul just to train my zealot skill, and I don’t post this thread to against every flamer users, instead I have realized it is getting unhealthy that someone thinks when flamer is as powerful as they can melt down 40 rager, mauler…. In a short time and distance, they don’t have to think about their movement and keep getting knocked down by mobs and complains for the class, I have no words.
I’m suddenly seeing the disconnect here.
Your thread is entitled: “Zealot flamer too powerful?”
Your first post says that you see a lot of players using it.
Your last post says that you’re seeing a lot of zealots getting downed using it.
Did you actually mean the flamer is too powerful; or instead that you think it’s a noob trap because you’re seeing people die with it?
Because your first and last post are diametrically opposed. As in, it reads as though you’re saying the opposite thing in the last post than in the first.
First post: you say it’s OP
Last post: you say they keep dying when using it
Also; again, I’d like to see the flamer melting 40 maulers.
Alr, people think it is op it is “wheelchair”, so they pick it up and ignore skill issue because they think is good as hell, and flamer is as op as it can melt everything except crasher with right build if you know. Everlasting flame + blaze away + blazing piety, it will melt down everything without even damn reload because you don’t need to reload. Just try in the psykerium, you will find out.
Well it’s helpful during some objectives.
You are 2 years late on this topic. There is barely anything about flamer you can change and not making it trash/annoying. It can’t be a skill dependant weapon, because you don’t need to aim with it but spray, there is no mechanics.
Potentially they can decrease cleave and increase raw damage plus mobility, so it will be still high dps damage but with more meaningfull positioning. Or add vent mechanic, but venting doesn’t rly make sense with flamer.
But there is no real need, as i mentioned mobility is horrible on flamer, you better equip high mobility melee with it. I run eviscerator/thammer+flamer for aestetical reasons, and in many cases i rely on flamer primary attack cause of high stagger instead of dodging.
Players are too bad because their own skill level is too poor, not because they rely on some magically powerful weapon.
Please don’t try to ask others how to play.
Oh you use the flamethrower too much, it’s not good, let’s nerf the flamethrower.
No, you’re not someone else’s life coach, please don’t point fingers.
Just when I start playing with the Flamer again, another bunch of people want to make it not fun anymore.
I’m cursed.
Flamer is in the same boat as purgatus staff. If the zealot is somewhat competent and knows how to create space to get it out and flame properly, it trivializes any complex mixed horde encounter. Turning the game into a cakewalk.
It’s just slightly worse than purgatus because it actually consumes ammo and is clunky to use compared to the staff. But it’s just as broken. The only reason you don’t see it as often is, because people just suck at handling it.
So yes, it is too powerful, but the community at large is too inept to properly use it. So the balance is the skill issue lol
Purgatus on the other hand is straight up broken.
Yeah what is up with these brain dead takes?
There’s a new difficulty coming, I would rather FS have a look at under performing weapons and clear out the bugs for blessings/talents that don’t actually work as described
Having just tried it in a Mealstrom mission, holey carp this thing is clunky.
I feel with everyone who never puts it away because drawing this weapon takes almost as long as just killing whatever you wanted to hit with this.
I’m never touching this again (realistically speaking, I probably will, but I can’t fathom right now why).
Use a throwing knife to cancel the draw animation. You’ll need them for specials anyway, the flamer isn’t a real ranged weapon.
Welcome to the downside and downfall of democracy.
When you give everyone a say you’re giving everyone a say. That includes idiots, defectives, and the people who just want to make others miserable because. In other words the very people who should never have a say in what is for dinner much less more important things.
The only time I supported or will support a nerf to the flamer was the very first one when one pyro could literally burn down an entire horde including multiple crushers in a single jet. Sadly it wasn’t until after said nerf that ObeseTuna told us about the undocumented armor-reduction on Chastise, how it wasn’t supposed to work with ranged weapons, and how it stacked with the flamers inherent armor reduction (obviously when it wasn’t supposed too…) that was the actual issue. Then of course instead of fixing those issues they decided it would become a “feature” and instead gimped the flamer’s ammo capacity.
I still have a scar on my forehead from the faceplant that resulted after reading that.
