I just get eaten by ranged in seconds, same in melee to much incoming damage. Zealot was much better at release than its right now. Doing better on my Vet in melee than Zealot which is just silly.
To many damage wise talents and we lack some good defensive perks. Zealot is made of wet paper…
a lot of ppl feel the need to stack up plenty of gunner resistance on their curios lately
Your basically invincible if you can position your self correctly.
I got 60% gunner DR on curios.
You get 15% toughness on dodge you got DR on crit you get DR on area you got DR on loads of skills.
Just jump in a keep and Critting and dodging or your gonna run out of toughness.
Remember enemies are your cover since they can’t be shot though.
For me gunners never down me it’s always melee elites in big packs and trappers.
Zealot is one of the best classes for avoiding damage, scratch that probably the best for actually doing that + gaming hardcore. Not sure where this comes from. Did you not take it for the sum of its parts? We get lots of toughness in the tree, a big chunk more HP than regular humies, 2 free wounds next to a 10% attack speed node, a node that lets you get toughness for avoiding damage, the most reliable DR in the game next to the one Ogryn has for being large, nodes for toughness with any ult and the best node in the game for surviving (thy wrath be swift). What else do they need? Toughness for remembering to lace their boots or read their scriptures before battle?
Zealot is all about movement. You take no damage while sliding. You need to dodge a lot, too.
Gunners suck big time and it took me a while to get better vs them. You can side dodge their shots which can help and just position yourself so you can use your ranged weapon if need be.
I genuinely can’t play without Fury of the Faithful at the least. Mobility feels real bad with Hammers and such so I just ignore most weapons that aren’t fairly mobile. Just tends to be my playstyle. Rushing down shooters to lock them into melee and avoid them suppressing the whole team or chipping away at toughness feels like a really good place to be, particularly since all I play at this point is quickmatches on Heresy/Damnation…
Hmm will try to dodge more, but as i said i just do better in melee as Vet, mean i block and dodge a lot but Vet have shout and that is a great skill to control horde and elites with toughness on demand. Possible i used to much to my Vet “shout” playstyle and trying to play same way zealot. Im wearing 60% gunner and 60% sniper damage reduction. Playing on normal Damnation so far.
Thx to all for tips.
p.s.
what weapons you run guys? Im sticking so far to 2h chain sword. Wish zealot got power sword…
I’m betting your experience is a consequence of the crafting system being total RNG, but melee weapons for Zealot?
Crusher, Eviscerator, Heavy Sword, Combat Axe, Tactical Axe and the new chainaxe are all good ‘generalist’ melee weapons that perform well in all of the difficulties. But how strong they are depends on your blessings too. Crusher, Eviscerator and heavy sword perform fairly well without the ideal blessings.
I am a big, big fan of the indignatus crusher.
I’m no zealot expert, but I’m learning the ways of ult spamming. All three of Zealot’s paths have a red cooldown reduction talent you should absolutely always take. There’s no cure for bad positioning, but you can absolutely face tank some stupid problems if you have an enemy to hit.
Blah - Darktide WH40k - Games Lantern my actual dumb build I used.
Tinkering with build to get max survi
I have 2 words for you.
Dodge slide.
That’s all.
In all seriousness though that only works agains ranged damage. In melee you have to learn when to push, when to block, when to attack etc, and it always was like this.
Also, the crusher and an updated mk4 chainaxe are very safe options due to them having an ability to perma-stagger almost anything in the game.
A) Nobody takes ranged damage while sliding.
B) Zealot’s 100 toughness DR while sliding (which again was only ever relevant against melee hits) was removed with patch 13.
Amazing how much misinformation is still going around about this even after being removed.
The middle path one is absolute garbage. On almost any build you’re unironically better off trying to force crit CDR into it if you want cooldown. Backstab one is ok but hard to get a consistent value out of without also running shroud.
To be fair most of this information was uncovered and shared around back when the game launched, back when everyone was actively trying to learn and uncover as much as possible, finding updated numbers for these things is difficult.
Garbage… in theory. In practice it’s a good option that you can very easily get value out of playing a martyrdom build. The actual numbers of the talent are super misleading, you get more CDR for the damage you take than you’d think but idk the actual numbers.
Only one you shouldn’t take is the one in the Martydom path. That only works when you take HP damage.
Unless it was changed at some point no, garbage in practice. I remember testing it in meat grinder shortly after patch 13 came out and it was an abysmal conversion rate plus as pointed out above only works on hp damage. If someone has testing that shows otherwise by all means I’d love to be corrected. You unquestionably get more net cooldown by forcing your way to crit CDR even with no crit chance bonuses in your build. Just what you get back from your initial FotF hit + random crits far outstrip middle CDR.
will try, thx
I’m going to maintain that taking that one is better than taking nothing. You can’t play around it, but if you’re using chior, not min-maxing stacks, and full hp, it can fix an oopsie.
But I’m also not going to say it’s better than crit.
Yea the other CDR talents are unquestionably better I don’t mean to contend with that fact or whatever. I said it’s a good option but that was wrong of me, I mean to say it’s a decent option worth grabbing in a situation such as if I have a spare talent point. But I’m not gonna sacrifice 2 or 3 talents just to inject crit CDR into a non-blazing piety build though.
Wait what? Seriously? I didnt know that lol
I’ll start sliding around more I guess on other chars
I swear on that game lantern website it stilll said a couple months ago 0.5 x for everyone else but zealot is 0x for damage while sliding.
