Very unlikely they’ll change it this way at this point in the games life cycle but I absolutely love the idea!

due that the game is is really vermintide but more shooty less stabby, you need something that worked like VT2, bolter is very very similar to “braces of pistol”.
which rather than make things interesting and good, they nerfed bolter too much that a revolver is stronger.
Just look at the autoguns, they all have triple stack magazines with the middle column on top that somehow work. I have a sneaking suspicion that a good number of Rejects are actually Orks.
I wish the speedloader would be already animated and in the game. To make the revolver actually usable. The reload is sooooo sooooo slow. Generally I think its fine to bemd the lore a bit but agree that it should be so much better in comparison to bolters.
Apparently FS tried making all the laser weapons have no recoil. The end result was that the guns felt awful to shoot, even if they were more “lore accurate”.
Which is a recurring point in this thread: lore accuracy is all well and good, but lore accuracy cannot come at the cost of bad gameplay and gamefeel.

Velocity is everything for penetration, not caliber. What you get with caliber is concussive force.

Bolter rounds don’t penetrate. The closet thing I can think of is a HESH shotgun slug - they explode on impact, they don’t penetrate.
Ad. 2) Open any, ANY codex for Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines or even IG and see how wrong you are.

Autoguns and Stubbers are also AP-. Does that mean they fire bean bag rounds that bounce off Tyranids? The table top version of 40k is even more of an abstraction then the Darktide version and is granular to the level of a D6 so a certain amount of fudging has to be made
Ironically, the not-even-remotely-sci-fi lasguns feel bad to me so I don’t use them. It’s all about personal preference, expectations, and compromise during production. The results will please some or many, but but not all
I like the revolver as a weapon. No i love the revolver in darktide. but like many weapons in Darktide it reaches some inexplicable highs. I’m quite fine with it being the quickdraw headclix spefialist sniper that it is. Where i start to get annoyed is its tremendous single shot damage
and Penetration compared to stub rifles. What roll could a future bolt pistol plasma pistol possibly have considering how ludicrously this weapon penetrates? Why can i shoot straight through like 6 flak armored dudes? Its ok in my book that i can headclick a scab shooter. Hell, its a game, i can headclick 2 shooters with one bullet! But, nay, i can shoot through an entire row of scabs and infested in one quick shot. And with the right blessings punch rigjt through carapace too.
It just feels a bit out of line with the rifles in the game who should realisitically have superior performance all around.
Strictly speaking they explode slightly after impact. But they, classically, are armor piercing too. So its always been unclear how they’re expected to perform on soft targets
Tests I’ve seen of HESH rounds on a kevlar vest on a ballistics gel target doesn’t penetrate - at all in fact. Explodes on the vest and does no damage to the vest.

In any case bolt rounds are not quite like a HESH slug, which has a soft tip and explodes as a consequence. The rounds above appear to be “mass reactive” much like bolt rounds are. They have “depleted deuterium armor piercing tips” and detonate after penetrating the target based on some mass based interaction. They’re also 2 stage propulsion systems.
Well if lore accuraty was important they wouldn’t have use the Accatra as the full auto las gun …

Yeah, same “power” as regular lasgun per shot, but with smaller number of focusing rings in the barrel, all “shots” had to be compensated with bigger charge from powerpack. Was it half or 1/3rd of shots? I don’t remember.

Semi-automatic means one trigger squize - one shot.
