Bolter Status

The bolter is in a pretty shaken position right now, having very niche role to fulfil when compared to other weapons.

Damage Value:
failing to 1 shot all elites and some specials, make it an ammo redundant weapon, with low ammo count , small magazine , long reload time and high recoil while also buggy, required to 2 shot elites

Shooting a Dreg Gunner, Nearly full damage modifier + Weakspot + Critical + 5 Stacks of Spotting (4x5) 20% extra damage + 10% Ranged Weakspot Damage weapon perk + 10% Ranged damage from Veteran Tree choices, still dreg gunner standing and laughing at my bolter.

Bolter Build

Damage Vs Infested:
Bolter does low damage to infested 50% of its damage, killing poxhound requires more ammo than killing other specials & elites, same goes for poxbomber , wastes lot of ammo.

With current bolter status, ditching it and using revolver, headhunter or even autoguns is better in terms of efficiency and utility, as bolter lacks mobility, ammo efficiency, and hybrid melee & ranged play. With a long reload speed and high recoil.

I think the Boltgun needs some buffs for sure.

If you go with the new keystones it looks like you can.

Seems like the bolter was overnerfed hard. Used to see them everywhere now i see one every dozen missions or so maybe.

Do you know him?

how his bolter is 0 recoil?

controller?

Apparently the key stone affects recoil I heard.

I just tried, still got recoil.

best bolter stability I have is 78% (same in picture of post) , is the 2% remaining all that is needed ? mhhm

The only thing the vet has that reduces recoil that i am aware off off the top of my head for Vet is volley fire/execution stance

Which is being used in the video

also the perk that uses stamina to increase crit chance and “reduce sway”, not sure what it means by sway in Fatshark universe of words.

Ohh yeah your right forgot about that one! Try thar combined with exe stance and see if it gets the recoil control your wanting?

Though i belive sway dosent affect recoil more the natural movement of the sights while aiming. At least that is what it is on other shooters

Did that, still got recoil.

I sense controller, I don’t have one to test it out.

Pretty much this. Everything else is doing a better job than the Boltgun.

The number of players going for the Bolter will probably not reflect this, but thats mostly because its a bloody Bolter. This thread shows that quite perfectly. Everyone is trying to make that hunk work desperately. (Including me.)

I just hope if it does get changed again the Bolter doesnt end up in the “headshot required” corner.

I was just trying to be helpfull   i dont usually use bolter myself. Weapon switch speed and reload speed have always been what i go for. Most weapons like that have little recoil to manage

Ye, it is nearly extinct. I would say it is not really fun to play with it. Basically “weaker” weapons can delete things faster than a Boltgun and on the top of that they are more ammo efficient.

Its totally okay, we shifted from bolter being niche into why his bolter got no recoil :joy:

It’s not just new keystone. He is using surgical and deadshot, which turns bolter into crit machine. And crits get boosted by Marksman focus by 28% in body and 32% in head, at 10 stacks.

recoil is like that because of deadshot and ex. stance combination.

Thanks!

It’s very annoying. Some times I’ve shot a common scab or derg with my bolter on the chest and they don’t die .-. It really needs a dmg buff. So far I take the bolter with “For the Emperor” and “Focus target” so I can kill monsters fast but… that’s all what it’s good for.

There are two ways to go about it imo:

Improve some of the stats to be just a bit better like reload speed, overall ammo count and AP values for better breakpoints.

I’d personally like to see it be able to reach the “1-hit aynthing but the ogrins” breakpoints more easely/ at all with more reasonable stacks / stats etc.

Or: give the vet better talents to fix those weaknesses more efficiently.
Reload on ult was a massive loss for such a slow handling weapon, the tree in general is so point inefficient for building around it’s weaknesses that you have to chose to either fix handling OR damage and no matter what you chose, it feels off either way.

The boltgun is not weak on either zealot or veteran but it just feels so off on vet especially and nuking monsters is really not something so special to justify all it’s weaknesses.
