They should just entirely roll back to patch 14. Full stop. Even if for no other reason than the amount of problems is disproportionately higher now. You didn’t see this many issues brought up at the time and nowhere near this level of severity.
With all that being the case, even with the introduction of the carnival, I fail to see patch 15 as anything other than a failure. It has just brought in too many problems. And for what?
Yeah. It is just ridiculous.
Either make him more powerfull or give some handling boost.
I tried to use bolter in melee build as quick “oh sht oh sht” and it fails with handling. Tried to use as main range weapon and it fails with ammo, damage and accuracy.
It’s niche is only huge gatherings of elites I guess.
Im thinking giving the gun a recoil pattern that goes straight up in a line might help alleviate some things, instead of having to deal with this weird side to side recoil pattern it currently has for single shots.
Like, jesus christ, the recoil looks like it goes downwards sometimes which really messes with every instinct thats been hardcoded into my brain from years of fps games.
Maybe increase the reload speed a bit so its not so laborious, would also make it easier to keep Relentless up between reloads.
It’s ok that it takes so many shots to kill pox hounds. It’s lore friendly. /s
It seriously needs a boost to its finesse. It should be able to comfortably one shot headshot any and all specials other than mutants, and all the human sized elites other than maulers and possibly ragers.
It’s the only way to justify its crazy recoil, and slow swap time.
If it only received a ready speed and reload speed buff, I’d take it honestly. Maybe a bit of a reserve boost (like one additional mag worth). The damage is honestly not too bad, the weapon just has zero handling. It is really weird that the plasma gun and the flamer both ready faster than it. (and the flamer has a quite slow ready speed, but that is fine for its purpose)
If it is meant to feel clunky and have uncontrolable recoil, it should hit like a train. If it isn’t then it should handle better and its damage can remain the same.
As it stands the revolver hits harder and only has a few less rounds over-all… that’s messed up.
Personally I think it needs a rework more than it needs a buff:
It should be (controllable) full-auto only, and not the two-shot burst thing it currently does when single-click hip-firing. It’s special action should be changed to a reload of metal storm frag rounds which are proxy-fused rounds that explode just before targets dealing less damage but massively increased stagger (possibly a small number of bleed stacks, say 2). The normal mode is just the rounds we currently have, but slightly higher damage. Half the current ready time on top of this and I think the bolter would be in a great state and be lore-accurate.
Potentially introducing this round-swamping change would allow other round types would let us have 2 other bolter types with access to two other special ammunition: Kraken bolts, which are anti-armor and Inferno bolts, which as the name implies are incendiary.
For me it’s not even about damage values, but swap time. That’s such a huge deal-breaker that I don’t even care about mag size or reload time.
It’s really weird how different elements of this game seem to be at odds with each other design-wise. The game constantly throws enemies from all directions at you, yet Vet gets talents that only work with 8m of free space in all directions. What? The game’s combat is designed around fluidly switching between ranged and melee, yet some weapons make it next to impossible. WHAT?
Yeah, i have not touched the bolter for ages outside of some random testing in the meatgrinder, the overall slow and clunky gun mechanics is something i really do not enjoy having to deal with.
the bolter used to be my absolute favourite weapon in the entire game back when the vet had sustained fire… remember when the vet had sustained fire? pepperidge farm remembers.
Can you enlighten us about lore friendly with bolter if you may? because I am 100% sure I have damped my bolter bullets in a solution of both Dettol & Mouthwash, also am a vet, veterinarian, have experience with animals.
Sway is the slight drift in your aim while ADSing. For once, Fatshark isn’t introducing a game-specific term, just using the word as defined in the dictionary
move or cause to move slowly or rhythmically backwards and forwards or from side to side.
Yes I remember…
It was killing my fun cause bolter was too strong.
Sure the bolter doesn’t do what it used to do, but I am really not sure this weapon needs a buff.
Off course, I have always a vision where I would want that every weapons are equals in term of balance between their use, weakness, strength and synergies.
You can aim very good with a bolter. Sure, every shot has a recoil, but it is not something for forbid you to use it efficiently. And sure, it is less precise if you don’t use the alt fire.
About the OP post: Poxwalker? do we talk about the Bolter? a boltgun one shot any poxwalker.
Also, I will say it, killing a wave of horde with a bolter… yes… killing hordes with bolter… absolute no.
About Boltgun / revolver.
Obviously a revolver used by a veteran has a problem… something has to be corrected here. And so, we cannot take that as a reference if at same time players ask a buff of the boltgun cause they think it is weaker than a revolver and also a nerf of the revolver…
This would lead to same situation as before… boltgun party
This buff did happen, because FS redid the whole HP system from damage and health of Enemies.
Once patch 13 hit, Power Sword did not even 1 hit Scab Armored , when attacked weakspot+ charged, because they forgotten to adjust the weapon to new stats, same for the bolter, same for the braced autoguns.
i can share with you videos of old bolter and old bolter damage, it did much better damage than now.
i’m sorry, i can’t take any of this seriously until i hear why OP is crying about the low infested damage when you should absolutely not be pouring bolter fire into a damn horde. the only real threat with infested in hounds and it’s always better to sidestep and star whacking them in the head than shooting them.
Hahaha no, not at all.
For you see, the “bolt” family of weapons does not shoot a bullet or a slug… It fires MINIATURISED ROCKET-PROPELLED GRENADES. That are designed to both penetrate standard armor and explode only after they are INSIDE of the target. So anything below Carapace should get gibbed instantly.
