It has ridiculous interaction with an op blessing that shouldve been nerfed long ago, its not very good on most other builds. Honestly they will likely nerf it but it will take them atleast 2 more months so enjoy it ig
So to sum up the recent replies
âWrack & Ruin isnât good, this is all PINNG FIRE which is bugged/Overpowered and thatâs the only reason why youâre able to do thatâ
have I got that right?
OK gotcha.
Hereâs what 12 stacks of SB does without pinning fire or even more damage from having a +25% damage weapon
Wrack + Ruin doesnât need more buffs.
If you think that is somehow impressive youâve clearly not used a purgatus staff. A single channel (without using an ult) is more effective than that.
Why would I run Perg? Do I like being shot to death by gunners?
If only there were multiple skill dependent solutions to âbeing shot to death by gunnersâ, but enjoy your crutch while it lasts then I guess.
To remark on topic. The issue with w&r (why I wonât use it) is that it requires a very niche situation to do anything useful. So demonstrating a niche situation where it is useful isnât actually compelling or addressing the problem. The other two talents in that slot are useful in the majority of situations, so the choice is easy. The only change that I think would tempt me to use w&r would be if it triggered off all bb targets.
Crutch
They have only made this build more powerful with every patch. Even the nerf to SB was a mistake, which was corrected and buffed in the most recent patch. Iâll be sure to post about it when the patch in the next week doesnât nerf and probably buffs it yet again.
But thanks for calling it a crutch, I guess that means you accept itâs powerful. Been a long journey, yet many people still think gunpsyker is bad. Not you though. I appreciate you finally realizing that. Maybe youâll even try it.
I think your build depends on having a vet or another psyker in your party to not run out of ammo, preferably both. It is especially strong when supported by a purga psyker to give you enough warp charges cast full stack ab on cooldown. I think the pinning shredder is stronger in the hands of the only vet on the team, though better in the hands of a pysker than a second vet. I think the build depends very much on the pinning fire blessing, but will probably still be respectable if that buff is cut in half or given harder proc conditions. I think purga played to the limit is stronger and safer in more flexible party comps. But sure, in the ideal scenario a pinning shredder psyker can put out more dmg than everything can except an equally enabled pinning shredder vet.
You think? As in you havenât tried it? Neither has anyone who doesnât like the Autopistol Psyker my dude.
Shredder Vet is no good because he canât deal with Crushers/Bulwarks/Snipers and unless heâs got power Cycler his melee will be worse (and since they donât get + to melee damage from their class is probably will be worse with it too)
And when it comes to wasting ammo, look no further than your average vet. Shoots at Poxwalkers all day because heâs scared to have to melee them. Has 40% more ammo at the start, but doesnât get 40% more ammo when he picks up world ammo. Itâs a huge waste. Only need one to be a source of free ammo in Gauntlet, otherwise you can keep him.
W+R is why you donât need another purg Psyker to keep up on warp charges, and if you BB a lot you wonât be using more ammo than average . You can spend most of your time BBing or clearing horde with the Mk V Force Sword. The only time you need to shoot is to kill shooters or high threat specials that are close enough that BB wouldnât be more efficient. Meanwhile all that SF stacks are keeping your warp charges topped off and burning a ton of chaff. BB muties/Bulwarks and finish them off with the gun. Unlike 95% of the guns in DT, the Autopistol draws and shoots nearly instantly.
If you run into too many shooters, blast them with AB.
At the end of the mission when things are usually the most difficult you can start shooting everything with the shredder. If you play aggressively (which you can all day on this build) you will likely have an ammo crate to put down as well. If not, just play as normal but remember you wonât need more ammo at the end of the mission.
You can either try it or stop commenting about it at this point, your assumptions are really just holding you back
I think this blessing is less of a crutch for players, than it is for certain weapons to function in a useful way.
As in, âbased on my experience playing it a bit and watching videos of other people playing it, my considered opinion isâŚâ, aka âI thinkâŚâ. I also think youâre a bit defensive, I literally said that in the right situation it is top 2 build in the game. I donât play it because I donât really enjoy the playstyle compared to purgatus, though if I did I would probably do it on the vet anyway. (Because the pinning shredder is so strong and fast it frees them up to take unlimited bleeding grenades, which when boosted by pinning fire are more effective at disappearing a mixed horde than ab anyway.)
If you compare it to âthe average vetâ then sure, it is better, but I think it makes more sense to compare builds assuming equal skill. It shows that you donât have as detailed a knowledge of vet intricacies though, so I donât think your opinion on whether psyker or vet is stronger with pinning shredder is worth much. I know youâre very attached to the idea that it is the single best build in the game, my only disagreement is that it isnât quite the best. I think pinning should be nerfed, because it is much stronger than anything else, which should be a clue that I obviously think it is a very strong build (in the right situation).
You realise melee exists right? You donât just use the auto pistol to shoot hordes, though honestly you have the ammo to do that from time to time if they get dense enough cause you get a lot of value per bullet there. Auto pistol dumps on a lot of specials and elites in a way the staffs can only dream of.
Like I canât believe thereâs anyone still doubting auto pistol Psyker at this point. I thought it being bonkers good was common knowledge by now.
Edit: I see by reading more of your comments you realise itâs a strong build. That ammo comment is just weird and makes no sense though.
Iâve seen it transform very average players that struggle into top performers living the easy life, hence seeing it as a crutch. Ie, without it they are going back to struggling. The same salty situation happened with power sword and flamer changes requiring more nuance to use effectively.
Grenade bleeds are better than 4+ stacks of SB
Great opinion. I think thatâs really all that needs to be said
