Issue Description (Required):
Getting 35 to 55 FPS most of the time regardless of settings, tried lowest everything and even 1080p with FSR ultra performance (which only lowers GPU usage to like 25% anyway).
Pre-patch it was running around 55 to 120 FPS (AFAIK normal for a 9070XT) and now low FPS no matter what I try.
Used drivers 25.9.1 and 25.9.2
deleted directx cache
deleted game shader cache
other games running normally
normal and experimental branch
with and without mods
Windows 10, 64GB of 6000Mhz CL32
i have the same problem on the 9070xt and 9800x3D But it happens every update they are terrible to proper optimized the game while vermintide 2 runs good no wonder that game gets more love and attention by Fatshark Than DarkTide and it is realy tiredsome they just half baked the game and not realy porper tested the game performance it was far worse at launch
Weird, my performance is better but 9070XT and 7900X and a much higher res monitor.
Some general advice:
- Medium textures perform better than high and I think better than low too
- enemy ragdoll count is very performance intensive. Same with the ragdoll interation toggle.
- If you change graphics settings in game, restart your game. Some settings like frame gen that have a tooltip saying you must restart your game for it to turn on don’t actually require that so the settings menu is broken somehow.
- Finding the “optimal” number of threads to set in the launcher is trial and error. My CPU has 12C/24T and i’ve found 18 to be the best setting for me so far.
- The game’s built in shader cache maker has been scuffed for a long time. It will make some shaders but you’ll always have a little bit of shader compilation stutter until you play enough for the game to make the missing ones. I recommend you do a loop or two around the mourningstar then go to the meat grinder and slap some enemies around for a minute or two to brute force that. I recommend causing a few explosions and make flamers blow up then restart your game.
- setting everything to low and doing fsr performance will just slam your cpu because you’re gpu isnt doing any work
- Darktide is VERY picky about overlays and outside programs. Leave your AMD adrenaline settings default but you can turn on FSR 4. I recommend making sure darktide is using your global profile and just toggling the FSR 4 setting in your global game profile. You’ll get a popup asking if you want to turn on HYPR-RX or whatever its called but you can ignore it.
One last one that sounds like nonsense but it (anecdotally) helps me and it’s harmless so I’ll suggest it:
Open and close Windows game bar before starting the game.
Windows relies on it for CPU scheduling but it’s not active in the background when out of game unless you open it yourself. I suspect that otherwise when you start a game and its kicks on automatically it gets confused by the launcher.
