Will stockpiling shillings become a problem?

Of the few for shilling cosmetics in the Emporium, I have gotten the ones I really wanted quite a while ago. The grind and the reward was fun, but now all I´m left with is some “meh” stuff I might buy for the heck of it, but nothing I really look forward to.

As I am still playing the game regularly and doing the weeklies, my stockpile of shillings is ever increasing. So, when the next wave of cosmetics hits (will probably take weeks or months), there are two options:

  1. I can use my giant vault of shillings to buy everything the moment it shows up. The value of the cosmetic item as a long time motivator or a regular reward is lost. The novelty just wears off quickly.

  2. The items are ridiculously expensive so I can only buy a few, but anyone who hasnt hoarded silver is royally screwed.

(technical third option: there are so many cool cosmetics that I cannot buy them all even if theyre individually affordable, but that seems unlikely for several reasons)

So, yeah… do you think that the ability to stockpile those shillings while the shop selection is still so limited will end up biting fatshark in the behind?

You mean like having too much of something without any use for it? SCRAP, CHESTS,DUST…

I mean it’s par for the course.

I think it’ll be a content drought with people having thousands of shillings and nothing to buy with it, clearing out the shop in moments when it is launched OR moaning because a Bardin hat with a paintbrush/snack sticking out of it or Bardins eyepatch from the LAUNCH TRAILER will be 25k > cue intense player-rage. My shillings are on the lack of content in the shop being the eventual outcome.

Now I don’t have motivation over shillings because I have lost my faith in FS and the new content

With the rate they release content, that applies to literally everything in the game. Just get used to it and tune it out I guess, just another of the many things we put up with because the core combat is so good to keep coming back anyway.

Good point. I´ve reached the status where loot doesnt really matter to me either and my inventory is full of junk. If Fatshark was ever to find a use for the leftover scrap, the veterans would also be able to sweep it up instantly.

Maybe they should have scrapped shillings all together and make cosmetics purchaseable with scrap & dust. Makes even bit more sense as Lohner and his costumers probably have more use for crafting material than for silver coins during the ongoing apocalypse.

A big solution would be to add other things besides cosmetics for shillings

Whatever they do with dust or scrap will have to take into account people have literally tens of thousands of scrap. I think I’m at 45k maybe? haven’t checked for ages. Anything they do will be immediately nullified by the people who could buy tons of stuff. If they don’t address what to do with shilling there’ll be the same situation fairly soon. I think I’ve got maybe 3k shillings now, as I won’t buy something simply because the shillings are burning a hole in my pocket.

10k scrap to repair a hole in the keep wall? 10k scrap to buy Keri a cherry blossom tree she can brood under? 10k scrap to buy Bardin his own little brewhouse?

[edit] not counting the 600+ chests I haven’t opened, or the full inventory I’ve got.

Keep upgrades for scrap or shillings would actually be really nice.

Other uses for Shillings: Yes please. Deeds for Shillings: Please no. Deeds should be a separate gamemode where you are free to tack on whatever challenge you want, combined with the weekly modifiers and maybe Wind effects. Doing crazy gameplay challenges is mostly what makes Vermintide so much fun. Rather, deeds should reward Shillings!

If we need a Shilling sink (and it looks like we will…), I’d rather have crazy expensive Keep upgrades or something. In Vermintide I’m rabidly against anything that restricts gameplay choice in any way, and locking it behind Shillings is a horrible idea since Shillings are hardcapped behind time. If you’d want to play more Deeds you’d have to wait till next week! My grasp of English is not good enough to express how bad of an idea I’d think this would be…

As opposed to having to grind for deeds whose drop rate is second to hats?

Guess I’m back on the “make deeds craftable” meme.

Maybe I was just lucky, but I could do deeds like forever with my group, since the drop rates where high enough to even choose what deeds we liked to play… right now the things just pile up in the inventory.
I understand a lot of criticisim here but sometimes a bit of patience is also good, the game can’t give you everything in an instant, others also played several hundred if not thousands of hours to get what they have.
Still a fan of a good deed system rework :ok_hand:

Almost 100% cosmetics will be released at such an absurdly sluggish rate that anyone who’s already been playing regularly will be able to scoop up every new wave the moment they come out.

In case anyone from FS is reading this I wanna make it super clear that trying to address this in any other way than more timely cosmetic releases will 100% make people angry or just generally be a bad idea.

In general this is a pretty small issue in the scheme of things, it’s just hard not to get frustrated at FS’s glacial pace in everything they do.

You know what? Not proud of the retort I gave. Y’all have a great day.

I fully agree with you that the way Deeds are currently implemented is bad. It’s just that I feel having Shillings be required for Deeds would be even worse, since it would be even more restrictive. Idealy, Deeds should be available for free and 100% customizable. Having them craftable with dust or something would be an acceptable implementation as well. At the very least it would be leagues better than having them drop from chests.

I also hoped deeds could be changed into something akin to craftable/modifiable/re-rollable maps from Path of Exile.

That would make the most sense but judging by the complexity this entails, I’m not getting my hopes up.

… that, and deed matchmking / public lobbies. I dont always have four buddies at hand, but I´d still really like to play some deeds. “Everything is elites” can be stupid fun with the right characters.

Wait, can you buy red cosmetics in the store and salvage them for red dusts to craft red items?
Or are all the cosmetics orange at best?

There are no red cosmetics in the store, and the cosmetics can’t be salvaged.

Nono, he’s simply saying that it’s not unheard of for the players to get an endless stockpile of resources that they have no use for because they gain it at a higher rate than they spend it, and that the same will happen to shillings.

I think to remember FS stating that we get more cosmetics than we will ever have Shillings for. So if you are after all cosmetics than it shouldn’t become a problem. If you are only looking for cosmetics for one specific career then yes, most likely you will stockpile the Shillings. But you have done a prirization already.

If I had to make a guess, I would say we know more in about a week or week and a half when we may get new cosmetics into the store.
