14 days is a bit on the short side yes, but it’s still better than how most other forums do it.
A discussion forum isn’t a dictionary. It goes without saying you shouldn’t make a duplicate of something already being discussed, and using search is encouraged. But expecting people to stick to supermassive megathreads where no-one has time to read it all and the current discussion has long since stopped having anything to do with OP isn’t good either. Not to mention the usual necro threads from over a year ago on Steam, where people keep arguing points long since made obsolete by all the patches and a completely different game.
tldr; I’d much rather take a few recent duplicates with most threads kept in a reasonable size, than a mess of massive & confusing posts and old necros, nvm a nightmare of user experience like the arbitrary 1000-rule jungle of Reddit.
I have no problem with people necro’ing old threads. I never really understood why it bothers people.
I’ve been annoyed countless times by this 14-day limit. And it doesn’t make me want to make a new thread, it just frustrated me and I end up not posting at all. It’s a dumb restriction IMHO.
I did recently change this from 7 days to 14 days! Feedback is welcome of course - I think it must have been an oversight that the same rule isn’t applied to the Vermintide 2 categories.
Typically why i think that it is a bad idea to close topics… I can understand that they close huge thread with lot of inappropriate posts. However this should always be a moderator action
