Why are we getting a heavy stubber variant instead of an autocannon?

Fatshark can you stop with the variants and actually give us new weapons? This new update your adding the heavy stubber variant of the twin linked stubber. It seems to sound like its gonna function exactly as a 40k autcannon would function in the hands of an Ogryn. So why wouldn’t you guys just give us an autocannon instead? its an actually unique and different weapon, and its explosive nature adds a more ogryn theme to it. It just seems like a slight misstep, and it makes me worry like now we wont get an autcannon for Ogryns(since this heavy stubber will do the same thing).

That’s also why I’m lukewarm on the upcoming guns, even as an Ogryn main. I’m all for additional options for long range/sniper counterplay, but the mechanics of such a weapon would be far better suited for an Autocannon - And that’s assuming that the weapons will actually have suitable damage/accuracy buffs to match rather than just being the current batch of Stubbers with semi-auto capabilities like I fear.

Another worry I have is that along with making Autocannons less likely, these new Stubbers will make it less likely for Veteran/Zealot to get their own Heavy Stubbers/LMG weapons like the Gunner enemies use.

Yeah I really wanted an autocannon because you would expect it to deliver some area control of enemies which as @gpkgpk and I have been complaining now for months was the original billed role of the ogryn. A stubber for point-shooting targets is literally throwing a human weapon on Ogg and it even has a pointless flashlight for the modifier that does not appear outside Auric and even there its pretty uncommon. Its also subtracting from the Ripper 5 that is already doing that, and is the only decent Rippergun atm anyway.

They are not the same weapons.
What we have is twin linked heavy stubber, we are going to get just a plain heavy stubber, that will focus more on precision shooting when braced.
Probably it will not be that much different visually and could feel pretty similar but it covers a role that ogryn needs pretty bad and finally it has a torch.

Probably because it was easier to roll out since they already have all these heavy stubber models and can use the twin-linked heavy stubber animations.

Apparently we’re not allowed to get actual cool guns from the setting for some reason

For all we know, GW thought autocannons and heavy bolters were too expensive for Ogryns to wield and they won’t allow it. These new stubbers strike me as Fatshark making the most of the assets they already have approval for.

I wish they would remove all these stupid f’ing regular weapons and replace them with actual 40k weapons. Why would i want to use a standard axe when they have power axes in 40k? It feels like such a waste of resources to create these non 40k weapons in a 40k game. 2 handed chainaxe? Best we can do is folding shovels. It’s so lame man. Even the dumb knife behaves like a power weapon, so why not at least put a power field on it and call it a day?

We’re so far past the whole rejects thing

We’re members of an inquisitorial warband give us the real 40k weaponry

Source for such claims? Gun Lugger rules state exactly the opposite.

Wouldn’t be the 1st time that GW decide against something when the lore previously said it was possible…

I feel that GW are petty enough to deliberately go contrarian to things that are in the Fantasy Flight books after that drama.

Don’t think GW has anything to do with it and contrarians are usially forum posters who make the most asinine excuses and argue because it makes them feel smart. It’s like people were arguing against Meltagun because “iT iS aN aNtI-ArMoR wEaPoN iT wOn’T fIt” while we have Kraks, which are literal anti-tank grenades or Hellguns being “too advanced for rejects”, while our enemies use them en-masse and we have Plasmaguns, Thunder Hammers, Power and Force weapons.

Either way, it feels like it’s something quick they can crank out because they already had all the parts.

It’s pretty unlikely that the same GW who let Kruber be a Grail Knight and Saltz be a Warrior Priest would decide that an ogryn can’t use a weapon a rank and file ogryn is depicted using in official art. I think it’s more likely they’re just saving the cooler concepts for rainy days, as is often the case in games that rely on updates like this

Autocannon shouldn’t be the Ogryn’s precise weapon tbh, it should be small magazine armour piercing weapon that isn’t really precise.

Like the old Autocannon.

In the Warhammer fantasy rpg, Mordheim and the Battle Fantasy lore (Holy Scriptures), Warrior Priest are allowed to use Flails on their own.

GW didn’t allow it (hence Flail and Shield in VT2)…

GW is known to be difficult to work with. Even Saber said so.

I agree with this also, autocannon should feel like an actual cannon

Heavy Stubber is from what I understand really a solution to the problem Ogryn have where they don’t have long ranged weapons and were asking for one.

Would have preferred a Multi Laser personally.

stub automatics, hunting rifles, long las, hand cannons, plasma pistols, melta guns, power fists, hot shot laspisols and lasguns are still criminally missing, they should be present in any inquisitorial armory that is worth of respect

Also lol’d at Autocannon being “too advanced” for Ogryn, it is literally a high caliber autogun, hence the name. It’s WW1 tech (QF 1 for example).
