As far as I know, the only person who reads the Forums for player feedback is the CM. The Current CM is QuickPaw and I only heard stuff about him from people who were veteran VT2 players. They described him as such : “He used to be a CM for VT2 and his approach was to basically treat the playerbase like mushrooms. He almost never engages with people outside of Discord.”
So does that mean that since KiteFin stepping down as a CM, no one has been reading any feedback from the Forums?
It would suck, so I’m asking does anyone know if the CM is the only person who is responsible for gathering feedback from the players?
Do you expect an exact answer? Because all you can get is speculation. I guess nobody outside fatshark got an idea how much this forum is incorporated into the development process. Considering the changes to the game thus far I would say there is a very high chance that the general consensus of this forum gets forwarded to the developers
I am hoping for one, yes. But at the same time what are the chances someone actually knows the truth? I certainly won’t know until I ask. It never hurts to try.
There definitely used to be more dev interaction. But I think due to partially the book of grudges and just that general sentiment… Well it seems like they have a “just dont say anything because anything we say will be used against us” attitude. They clearly still see the forum and take feedback from it, they just don’t respond much anymore.
Understandable point. I’d imagine there are a good amount of devs working on Darktide who enjoy the game just as much as we do so some feedback is probably noted for future changes but to maintain a professional community relationship do not engage as devs on the forum.
Are you sure? Enjoying a game while actually having to work on said game feels like something that’s very hard to achieve. There’s a reason why people say, “If you have a hobby, never turn it into a job. You’ll live to hate it.”
This is why many people who were passionate about art stopped loving it, after trying to make a living out of it.
A couple of interns can read and compile feedback.
What’s important is to rank that feedback and present it to the right people at the right time. I imagine when they have meetings CMs get a turn at presenting what players have complained about this week\month.
They probably have long-term content plans and feedback should have close to no effect on those, but fixes, reworks, QoL features and such should come at least partially from CMs’ work.
But yeah, as others said, i don’t think Fatshark ever talked about internal processes in detail and given how little we get in terms of news about the game in general, it’s company’s policy at this point.
While this is hilarious to imagine and has me in stitches, it certainly runs contrary to the Ol’ Hadron Casino Blessing lottery replaced by the current Mastery system.
Counterpoint: Strawhat used that exact thread as a design document and started in on addressing several of the long-standing issues in it.
It’s only after her departure that Fatshark’s CM engagement went in the crapper again. Kitefin wasn’t prepared to handle the job and Quickpaw is from the old-school ‘say absolutely nothing’ approach.
Fatshark’s CMs have the capacity to make things positive.
Fair. I’m not saying the book of grudges is a bad thing. But I definitely think it makes a good argument for “If we say anything and then change our mind or don’t do it people will get angry. So lets just not say anything instead”. Not saying that is the best approach or what they should do, just the approach FS currently seems to be taking.
Id much rather have proper communication and FS to just come out and say “Yeah were not doing X because of Y now”. But I guess the current CM would rather stay quite and not make things worse. Just also not making things better in the process (kind of the job of a CM).
