Weapons and Traits - Darktide Weapon updates vs V2

I have a lot of respect for Kitten in that posts are always thought through and interesting relevant and incisive.

My concerns are freewheeling balance into the wazoo like old BW or Pyromancer "FlyFreeLittleOnes* or you know, … broken balance. Machine Gun Huntsman, WH being a powerhouse in Cata+ and so on…

It’s pretty nice now and I think FS need to apply a scalpel to gently shave changes to balance rather than a battle axe all at once to make sweeping changes to… bloody everything.

It’ll be hard to replicate the diversity of DW in VT2 purely because theyre fundamentally different animals but hey. VT2 has my heart and soul…and I hope it continues to be great. It’s taken some time and pain to get here…

The new Darktide shotgun is kind of what I wish grudgeraker was more like. Same blunderbuss.

Only thing grudgeraker has over it is a more satisfying reload animation.

Added pointless and weak Talents.

I actually do not feel like fervent huntress is too bad a concept, just need something extra ontop to be a fair competitor. 15% movespeed feels good to have in use.

…Ricochet meanwhile isnt just RNG, its completely useless in any map that isnt just narrow tunnels/hallways. And even then, it needs the user to have such a god awful aim that they cant hit the usually present hordes filling said tunnels to deliver any value.

And heck even if one tries to be deliberate about bounces, the geometry is so hard to tell for many maps that oftentimes the shot could easily just bounce straight back instead of going forward.

And even if you hit, so what? Most of her weapons needs specifically headshots to deliver good value and random bounces are much less likely to deliver even when they do happen to work out.

Could add some kinda ā€œtrickshot bonus damageā€ where ricochet’d shots deal extra damage

As for the ring factor, give a % chance shots can also ricochet off enemies hit

Added to Inspirational Shots:

  • Make it more consistant to headshot Chaos Infantry with the Flamethrower
  • Increase the range
