Bardin's Axe and Shield's Heavy2 attack is pretty decent at killing Hordes despite just being an axe swing. Can all other 1-h axe weapons have a similar Heavy attack in their movesets too?

In some ways I do appreciate how 1-H axes are unique in that every hit in it’s light attack comboes deal decent armour piercing attacks at the expense of any cleave. Problem is every other weapon have more than enough capabilities to deal with h all armoured enemies while also being able to handle hordes on top.

My suggestion is to take Bardin’s Axe+shield Heavy2 (the horizontal axe swing) and apply it to all axe weapons. Maybe in the form of a heavy attack or push attack. It’s essentially Sienna’s crowbill heavy, but with cleave. Also give Sienna’s crowbill heavies cleave.

go ahead and mod the game to do this :+1:

Yeah and wait 10+ years for FS to sanction your mod…

Sienna’s Crowbill Light 4 could have a bigger explosion and DoT more enemies.

  • It only DoTs 1 now
  • It wouldn’t take away the identity of the Weapon as it comes so late in the chain
  • It makes it more of an option for Battle Wizard, who has no stats to make use of On-Kill THP

A bigger cleave to lights resolves this problem.

FS doesn’t sanction new mods.

I did and it worked fine. But crowbill is so strong on necro I needed to remove all buffs on crowbill.

You can try higher cleave on axes and crowbill (still) with my mod in modded realms.

Oh, you’ve actually already done a few of my suggestions. rofl

Also a shame about Crowbill, that seemed like the most simple improvement for it.

I wonder if there would be a way for them to not allow Crits on that specific attack. Even if it is a nerf to the others, it would still be a worthwhile change.

It might have happened. Possibilities aren’t endless after all.

I liked it. But I thought the cleave buff is more consistent.

I don’t know any official setting that would turn off the crits, so it would require an unreasonable amount of time.

It definitely would yeah, though I wonder if that’d make it too much like any other weapons.

Considering axes did have low horde clear potential as a defined weakness from as far back as V1, I figured making the cleave hit more difficult to access might still enforce that identity. Similar to how the only to do any decent single target damage with great swords is through a slow push attack.

I think that axe + shield should be remodeled as hammer + shield, and vice versa.

Which is better? Strong identity with sporadic use or less identity with popularity?

Neither, both would be bad and would have warranted a feedback thread.

Those two are not mutually exclusive. That’s why I suggested a cleave attack that’s harder to access than for most other weapons while still retaining its current stagger and armour piercing against elites.

In exchange for that Heavy 2, it is much harder to combo into his Heavy 1 which is the actual shield bash stagger.

I like the looks of a dwarf with an axe and shield, but I really have no idea how to use it.

I use it with “desperation”, it works.
