Weapon Mastery, help?

I don’t understand how this weapon mastery thing works and there’s no explanation in game.
I use a Lightning staff and go in to that “item type” I can add points to some blessing.
I have about 25 of these points.

1. Are these “blessing” connected to the ones that’s already equipped on the staff or are they on top? I.e. if I upgrade the suppress close enemies blessing in the mastery menu, do I also have to equip that blessing on my weapon through the old weapon system in order to benefit from it, or is it always active on top of the blessings equipped on the staff?
2. When I upgrade blessing in the mastery menu, spending all my 25 points and then exit, they are gone when I re enter the blessing menu. I’ve spent them and all over again about 10 times now with no difference. Each time I open the Mastery menu my points are back and all blessings are at 0. What am I doing wrong?

1. Those are the blessings that you unlock/learn. It is basically a library of the blessings that you learned, and which you can now apply to weapons at any time. They are not automatically all active at the same time. It is just a list that shows, which blessings you have access to.
   The 1-2 blessings that are displayed on your items, are the blessings that are active for that specific item. You can replace them with the blessings that you unlocked via mastery.
   For example, if your staff comes with „T1 Warp Flurry“ and „T3 Warp Nexus“, those are the blessings that affect the staff.
   If you want to use „T4 warp flurry“ and „T4 blaze away“ instead, you can unlock those via mastery, then go to hadron and replace the staff’s original blessings with them.

2. That is not supposed to happen. When you spend your points and unlock something, the points should stay where you put them.
