Warp Rider

What exactly does Warp Rider do? (Before the class overhaul, I know what it used to do, but now…?) The description is incredibly vague and confusing:

“Up to 20% damage from all sources, based on your current peril”

I think what’s confusing me the most is the word from. Using “from” in this description makes it sound like you take extra damage, but there’s no beneficial offset.

I believe a better discription would be :

“All the damage you deal is increased by up to 20%, depending on the amount of peril you have.”

Yea its up to 20% damage depending on peril. Last update it was bugged and 10% at 0 peril so it was basically 10% free damage and another 10% with high perils.

Increases any damage by up to 20% based on current peril; stacks additively with other related damage buffs:

So 4% per 20 peril.

is warp rider even a good passive? not sure if the 20% is a multiplier or not, i would assume yes since it’s “all sources” and not adding it to only one specific source. so i guess the question would be focused more around uptime and how peril is managed.
