Warhammer Skulls: Expectations, assumptions, and facts

Operatives, as you are probably aware, there will soon be the Warhammer Skulls event, where our sharks are announced with Darko. I suggest writing your assumptions and feelings in the comments. In my opinion, the second part of the Path of Redemption should be announced. In my understanding, the “path” is not just one step, but at least two. Possible announcements of a crafting system and new weapons, probably a new class hinted at for the end of the year (broken meta or complete junk).

Must have missed this, any chance on source where this was mentioned?

Recap on what has been added to the game, some quick mentions on part two of the Path of Redemption about the upcoming item overhaul. The actual update will most likely be good, just not sure that there will be any specifics given during the skulls event.

I’m hoping for some sneak peak into the new itemization system they are working on. A complete overhaul of the old one based on the files still present in the files and some more.

  • Total customization of weapons including, but not limited to sights, addons (flashlights, bayonet), fire-rate, melee movesets, ammo types. Also removing all “samey” MKs in the process.
  • Adding new special activation to all psyker staves granting new interesting abilities based on player preference.
  • Reimagination of weapons like Lasguns with in-game tuning of power output (increasing damage for more ammo).
  • New gadget system either replacing or adding to current blitz options with items and boosting pickups like stim in some way.
  • New high-tech weaponry.
  • Global re balancing of weapons.
  • New Unique/Relic/Red tier rarity composed of pre-defined items breaking the current system in a unique, but controlled way, which are either not modifiable or can only be modified lightly. Something like weapon with 100% damage stat but very low mobility/ammo count or something. Maybe even with more blessing than 2.
  • More interesting curio powers/boosts (like in VT).
  • New and/or higher level blessings that are game/weapon-changing magnitude along the lines of Surge blessing, Powercycler, Sunder, Deflector, Blazing Spirit etc…
  • New crafting resources based on Map types all needed for different upgrades (giving as a reason to go for specific maps). Like Relics in throneside, High-tech components in manufactorum etc…

I’m also hoping that with the itemization changes the current system of “no weapon is perfect” stays the same, it would be a shame loosing it.

Is it probable? No, most likely they just make crafting as bad/nonexistent as in VT2, remove the best part (point cap) and introduce a set of new weapons, and call it a day, but I’m hoping they take the chance to change the complete itemization system and make something nice.

I cannot recall any mentions of a new class, but trivially, considering we have 5 character slots and 4 classes - it sounds logical and would spice up the gameplay and boost online activity… although logic and game developers are not always compatible.К

I don’t have hope, no expectations, nothing. Why have any real hope beyond expecting them to do the right thing but knowing you’ll be disappointed?

Wise words … I admit I’m catching myself getting excited for Thursday. Better to go into it with “negative” expectations and then even “nothing” is positive :wink:

I don’t really have any expectations. If there’s supposed to be something coming out of this event thingy and Fatshark is hoping to generate excitement and hype, I’m not seeing what there is to be holding my breath over as yet.

If they do have something, I’d lay money on one of these three:

More of the Same - like the last patch, we might get a new slightly reworked variant enemy and some existing unfinished feature might get a bit of polish (maybe Melk?), but otherwise nothing of huge interest.

Crafting Gotcha - “lol we removed one lock but kept the last one, enjoy your crafting rework” or some other minor rejigger to that effect.

Cosmetic Grab - “We know how much y’all love them Premium priced extra-'spensive Regimental cosmetics, who’s ready for Vostroyans?”

What wouldn’t surprise me however:

Literally nothing of value - “How much y’all like those new Pennances? Has anyone tried the boardgame?”

I hope I’m pleasantly surprised by Fatshark and proven wrong, but as has already been rightly noted, Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
