Veteran Heavygun

i dont think thats a ton of work…but for FS it is anyway. in same time frame other games alrdy pumped out multiple major updates FS manages to add a single new weapon

It’d just be an infantry lasgun with better ADMs against Flak and Carapace. Hardly anything revolutionary, and it’d be more unique than the nine Autogun variants we have in-game right now.

So why do we need to add it then?

“Make gun but better” will only ruin the worse gun

Why do we need to add anything to anything? People like having options.

If you can’t think of any way to balance a gun with high carapace ADMs then I don’t know what to tell you.

I’m surprised people in this thread are at all worried about balance… all things considered.

As long as neither have a way to generate dots, they’ll probably be between mid and midling.

They can’t do worse than twin-linked stubbers or brautos

Yeah, but when these options are actually different, lol

Just make them enviromental/scarce/event only weapons.

:fire: Event Title: “Imperium’s Last Salvo”

Event Description: The heretics grow bold, and the Tertium front buckles under relentless assault. In response, the Munitorum has authorized the deployment of sacred relics of war: Hellguns, Meltaguns, and Heavy Bolters: tools of devastation once reserved for the Emperor’s finest. These weapons are scattered across the battlefield, locked in fortified caches and guarded by corrupted war-machines.

Scour the hive for these rare instruments of annihilation. Use them wisely; each shot is a prayer, each burst a benediction. But beware: the enemy knows their value and will stop at nothing to claim them.

:collision: Modifiers:

  • Standard weapons are less effective against elite enemies.

  • Environmental caches contain limited-use Hellguns, Meltaguns, and Heavy Bolters.

  • Increased enemy density and armored units.

  • Ammo scarcity, conserve or perish.

Literally on the pic. Wikipedia cope lord can’t handle the real world outside of his fantasies lmao

The tempestus aquilons have smaller hellshot packs for their hellguns

Fatshark can actually make them

Hellguns in darktide could have the same battery pack as all lasguns balancing wise. They would just deplete a higher value per shot: somewhere between 8 and 20.

Okay so here’s my rough outline of a Hellgun:

It has, like the flamer, a semi-auto mode when hip firing and a full-auto when braced, with a push special.

Unlike the flamer, it uses a heat gauge instead of ammo. This limits how much damage it can output over sustained engagements.

Damage wise it’d be less effective against Carapace than the plasma but more than any of the other lasguns. It would be a heavy weapon with more penetration, a lot more suppression, and a great deal of raw firepower, but still being clunky and difficult to handle close quarters in.

Blessings would probably be a mix of heat management, the existing lasweapon burn/crit setups, and probably some things built around using the heat gauge for more damage or faster fire rate.

I think it’s definitely possible to balance and would be cool.

A Hotshot Lasgun would be more different to any other weapon in the game than a Braced Autogun and an Infantry Autogun already are.

Let it be the first ranged weapon in Darktide where it has a set aim speed that is independent to the mouse/stick sensitivity, like in Arma or Helldivers 2. That’s where the clunk in close quarters would come from.

I would be happy with getting the scab gunners volley gun. At this point its pretty clear that ObeseTuna isn’t going to put anything truly new into the game - the “new veteran weapon” that took them extra months to do being effectively a cut & paste relic blade proved that. At least with that all the assets are already present. Do I expect it to every happen? Not given their track record for taking the laziest route when it comes to adding something.

Frankly at this point my money is on them having, well, given up on DT. They’ll have a skeleton crew make some changes and try desperately to placate the ‘live service’ requirements they tout, but it’s a sham while the actual developers work on the next game. Their output is not that of a studio putting the majority of their effort into a new title.

Life service is different programming than developing a game with a vastly different focus points. You need to have a new product to build to keep all ppl who build the first product and are now done. Of course it is a sceleton crew - it is tailored to fit life service. Doesn’t mean it is dying though, just means it mustn’t be build anymore as it is already here.

The only ppl for which a game like this dies are content creators which must always follow the trend to get their clicks. If you just want to play the game you will be able to do it for years
