You say that as if the changes would be so huge. Well if Veteran is so broken, why don’t we see masses of people clearing Damnation with him?

It doesn’t seem like people believe Veterans are broken in any way. Just that they’re currently the only Class that works exactly as intended. Every other Class falls flat in some crucial aspect of what they’re supposed to be.

i only experienced it for one day since i havnt played SS much, but what is absolutely broken is power sword special. no other melee weapon comes even remotely close. Even without the special its a decent weapon, it has a great moveset. But the special, especially since it’s so fast especialy when animation cancelled, is universally applicable without a downside and cleaves through everything.

This is why I’m so annoyed they kept nerfing Zealot. I don’t want to keep comparing my class to others. I want to be able to play the role I want to. I want my class to synergize with what I’m using like veteran does. I don’t want veteran nerfed, I want it as a comparison point on how to balance other classes. Veteran has feats to help the team, or help his weapons.

Zealot has feats to help their damage, but no feats to help their weapons feel good to use like faster attack speed (no the under 50% hp attack speed talent does nothing) that aren’t outclassed by other feats on the same bar. The attack speed on ability might have had a place before the nerf to the ability, but after having two uses or lower CD is just better. Zealot doesn’t need any HP feats while chip damage exists in the game. Buffing a random talent to make a toughness never goes down build viable doesn’t make me want to use the weapons I wanted to, it just makes me use a dagger and maybe a flamer for horde clear.

Same with ogryn, lots of tanky, lots of support, doesn’t help him do much else other than be a support. He’s good at horde clearing, so it’s best to leave him to do that.

Psyker got their brain bursts nerfed and now they aren’t useful above Malice, and below Malice they make other classes feel inferior.

Grenades should scale, if a class is doing bad, take out some of their “give stat bonus passives” like zealot’s 10% attack speed and martyrdom and give them something that does something, like immunity to chip damage under 25% HP. Make the feats people don’t pick do more, or change them to be something people would consider picking.

I don’t want psyker nerfed because they can kill things before I can get to them. I want zealot buffed to be able to get to specials so they can take out some and let the psyker take out another. I want ogryn to be able to be shot through by friendly fire since the enemy can shoot through their own units. And veteran is in a good spot, you don’t need to touch them.

Well if there was reports of a single veteran clearing everything and pushing Damnation as already mentioned in this thread, yes sure we could call the class broken.

I agree with OP sentiment, its the other classes that either has uninspired talent trees or they are not fulfilling the role they are meant to.

For example Ogryns should have a passive mitigation against ranged shots to be able to survive on higher difficulties. So it doesnt have to rely much on the mace and shield equipment and be able to use other loadouts in order to take heresy +.

Psykers were indeed strong in CBT but the nerf was way heavy handed they should have at least QoL buffs at least to compensate.

Zealots suffer something close to Ogryns being a melee character but its not the lack of damage mitigation, zealots has a lot, the problem that I notice within my squad is being able to engage with enemies on higher difficulties they get suppressed, the hordes are so thick and not being able to break the animation with attacks from some specials like trappers make then lives a living hell.

I think the big issue for the veteran vs the other classes is the veteran encourages you to stay out and shoot, while melee is for the zealot and ogryn. And we all know how wonderful chip damage is. Pysker needs love in general I feel, because brainburst falls off hard for damage and while the stagger’s good, it’s definitely not enough at higher difficulties

No one never said vet was op as is, all we said is that all other class are not functioning as they should making vet a better choice in most situation.
No one is calling for a vet nerf we just want the other class to be look at so they can fullfil the role they are mean to.

I cannot agree more with what’s being said in this thread and I can only hope so very deeply that Fatshark picked up on it. Things they need to pick up from this thread:

1.) Sharpshooter doesn’t need a nerf;
2.) Chip-damage is a broken idea, implemented as heavy-handedly as the Psyker nerf, inconsiderate about the domino effect;
3.) Melee classes are severly broken due to said chip-damage and the over-the-top efficiency of ranged enemies and the shear amount of them.
4.) Fatshark should use the Pre-order Beta data to figure out what talents are basically never picked, and replace/improve them asap (and again, not nerf the talents that are picked).

OK, maybe I added some of my own into the above list, but I think it’s a proper list.
