Just some Veteran issues

I know what your thinking another Veteran player complaining about their class not being crazy strong, well sadly its kind of like that but also not. let me explain. :smiley:
I’ve played this game for about a year now and I love it, despite the lack of all the things promised I still play it cause who doesn’t want to be a guardsmen fighting the good fight.

For the record I find the current state of Veteran pretty okay, and that’s alright. But compared to the other classes I’m not really sure what I do better than them, for example I can go Stealth well so can zealot and they can one shot afterwards, I can gun down enemies well Ogryns do it better while being tanky, I can kill elites quickly well Psykers can do it faster, not use ammo, and not aim.

So in a lot of ways I’m not really sure what I do better than other classes fundamentally, the Veteran to me was the ranged specialist. So why do my guns feel so lack luster to use? Sure the ammo economy is bad but its whatever just aim better right lol. I think the veteran would benefit greatly if the class focused more on certain guns which i know some people wont like, so that’s why its my hot take. Remove autoguns from the Veterans arsenal besides the Headhunter Variants, and focus more on the special weapons IE Bolter, plasma guns, lasguns, and shotguns. The lack of lasguns variants to me is crazy, no Long-Las, no Hellguns/ Hot shot lasguns, all staple weapons of a Veteran Guardsmen yet we have none of them. To me a Veteran guardsmen shouldn’t be using your basic weapons and more specialty weapons, psykers and zealots can have the basic guns because their better with other aspects.

The lack of keystones to me is a little confusing, the ability modifiers at the bottom of the trees are almost never used due to perks being so spread out and objectively better IE Onslaught, Iron Will, and Shock Trooper. All of those perks are in different trees but the mainly stay of most Vet Builds. The lack of builds is honestly boring. I think focusing more into specialist type units from the guard would be a good start for changes, I’m sure most people would love to be a Storm trooper or Kasrkin. The Survivalist trait to me is lackluster and could maybe be buffed a little to maybe like 1.5% or 2% depending on weapon, and the Fire Team trait should just be 5% seems kind of no brainer to me.

I could go on and on about things I find wrong or out of place but that’s boring, id just love to see the game touch more on lore specific types of guardsmen which I know is asking a lot given all of the things we still haven’t received. Just ideas and hopes for the future. lemme know what you guys think and if I’m crazy or not lol. oh and give me a hellgun plz

lmao i know but you gotta be honest half of the autoguns aren’t used at all besides the agi mk8 and maybe 2 others XD
