Vermintide 3 or Graphics/next gen update

As it is in the title which do you guys think fatshark should do with the Vermintide franchise

  1. Sequel
Make a sequel using the darktide engine or something and have it set in new locations with the new enemies like the infamous vermin lord or broad horror
  2. Graphics/next gen update
Or should fatshark do a graphics update which next gen and more powerful computers can use to make the game the game look better
  3. Leave it as is
Basically have them keep doing what they have been doing.
  4. Bonus idea
Make Vermintide age of sigmar with a reincarnated ubersreik 5

It’s likely that the next project won’t be on Bitsquid/Autodesk-Stingray, as they’ve been looking for UE4 or 5 (didn’t bother checking again) devs.

VT2 is indeed quite closer to the end of it’s life cycle (6+ years is quite honourable) than its start, and we know that there are limits to the engine.

But tbh, I’d rather not see a sequel next, but rather see another fantasy tide, either warhammer (both BF or AoS), but not Skaven (Lizardmen, Greenskins, Vampire Counts, or more precise scenarios like Dreadfleet offering easy “alliances” of different factions), and not the U5 (though seeing the VA return is always pleasent).

At this point, if they want to keep the U5, it’s the only mean to do so, we’re already way past the narrative of the End Time year wise (which honestly might have been an error from FS/Ward). We’re basically already fighting an already lost war.

So having the U5 “die” in VT2’s last update mission, and then have them return as a Soulbound group (AoS rpg mechanic that has a group of people whose souls are intervined and causing them to have “familiarity” to each other, even if they don’t understand why) might actually the only real way to make a VT3 with the U5.

I think the next game should be from the Skaven point of view. Like we play as different classes of ratmen that we can level up and get new abilities for. And the missions are invading cities, killing man-things, erecting big bells, etc. The bosses could be the U5 & Company too!

The Vermintide series has been running for nearly a decade if we include the End Times. While there is a possibility of VT3, it seems more likely that Fatshark is interested in creating a different Tide series. Whether that turns out to be AOE or something else is uncertain. However, from the perspective of attracting new players and increasing revenue, a new Tide series might be more appealing than VT3, especially in terms of offering something fresh.

I believe that most of the VT2 team has already moved on to a new project using Unreal Engine 5. The remaining team is probably handling bug fixes and small-scale updates for VT2. Regarding the new weapon pack, it is reasonable to assume that it has been delayed until next year due to limited resources, making a release this year unlikely.

FS isn’t very good at optimizing their games, so I don’t want any “next gen” from them, because then no one who doesn’t have a computer from NASA can play it, and there will definitely be thousands of new bugs.

Could be that next gen is the solution then. Autodesk/Stingray have a reputation for making optimization quite difficult, so I’m not sure all the blame is on FS.

Autodesk/Stingray was made by old FS (Bitsquid) then sold to Autodesk

So the blame would still remain on them. (Though next project may be on UE5)

I hope for more Warhammer Fantasy. I can roll with Age of Sigmar but what I really want is go backwards in time to The Old World setting and fight various enemies there.

only If it includes kerillian as a snake lady

Otherwise, I like the game design and mechanics, so I’d prefer more maps, balance, weapons, and personally, I’d like some changes to the intensity of the default cataclysm to make it more challenging.
Some graphics uplift could be nice, but I don’t care too much for it.

A bonus monetisation idea for our FS overlords is to create purchasable career portraits based on popular (if not all) cosmetics - e.g. Shade portrait with a Shadow Mask/Drakira’s Grin, etc.

Also, Hellebron/Hag Queen shade skin=gazillion sales

source; just don’t forget the big hair, silly crown and edgy armour ^^

Also, in game 3 (if there is to be one), would be neat to see more nurglish aesthetics e.g. chaos spawn, beastmen. Also, maybe introduction of daemonic faction and plague ogres as CW-type enemy (hopefully GW gods approve :crossed_fingers:).

Very much so.

Even if FatShark would go strictly with Nurgle-themed enemies we could have many more types. Just look at Warhammer Total War and the old supplement “Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos” for even more enemies serving Nurgle that we could face and fight.

And that’s not even talking about the other three Chaos Gods, as well as Skaven stuff and so on.

Why everytone’s talking about vt3 ? are we sure the next game is based on Warhammer AoS and not still on 40k ? I may have missed it but i was pretty sure they would do Darktide 2 without more infos than the start of an unreal engine project 1-2 years ago…

I’d rather take a fully focus Vt2 than a new game tbh

Cause many people want VT3

We don’t even know if their next game will be warhammer, and even if it’ll be a tide game.

Darktide 2 isn’t really as needed as VT2 was when they were working on VT1 (it being very much not future-proofed)

In any case, VT2 is already stretched to the limit engine wise, so at some point doing more stuff for it is just not feasible
