Verminious Dreams Lighting (+ Lighting Mod)

I made a mod that tweaks a few lighting values for these missions, and I want to show you side by side how they look. I’m a bit colorblind, but overall this is kinda what I think looks nice vs. what Fatshark had the lighting values set to. I gave the environments stronger shadows, and less monotone lighting, tried to let the natural colors and environmental effects shine through. Just a suggestion if Fatshark ever revisits their lighting for these missions. They look fantastic but the greenish-yellow filter is too strong.

I don’t like those maps, but I would at least like them a bit more this way.

First map of the campaign being permanently desaturated and covered in green vapor is one of the weirdest design choices possible. I literally cannot understand tf were they thinking. This single thing makes the map look like 10x worse.

During one of the events recently the green filter was lifted, and you could just see how much more the map was improved. But then, they reverted it back…

I only hope that your mod will ever be sanctioned sometime.

Yes, that’s what inspired me. The Geheimnishnacht event made it night on the mission and gave the light a more gentle and natural color palette. I checked the lighting RGB values and they were all set to a fairly extreme green/yellow. The sun, the shadows, the ambient light, the sky and the fog all set to a sickly yellow green in the extreme.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I understand that Nurgle/Skaven green theme has to be there, but that doesn’t mean turning the dial up to puke green for every light source.

All I did was lower the exposure a bit on the first mission, and then it’s those 5 light sources. I changed the sun, shadows, ambient, sky and fog light colors for all 3 missions. I darkened the shadows and tried to pick less intense colors. A little color theory goes a long way. I used dark deep blue shadows with the greenish haze (or more black on the underground mission), and the green Skaven warpstone light sources unchanged, then a natural sky and sun color with more neutral ambient light.
