I’ve been thinking about doing a thread where we confess things that some may think are dumb or weird or just unusual about how you play Verm. Maybe you always open a certain box, or walk a certain path. Or there’s some kind of oddity to how you play.
Here’s my confession. I’ve played Verm 2 since Xbox beta, and Verm 1 since Xbox release before that. I’ve never intentionally dodged in either game. I play with left handed controls, so my right thumb stick is controlling movement and my left is controlling aiming. It’s basically impossible for me to pick a direction and hit the dodge button at the same time. I’d have to take my trigger finger off and curl it under to hit the A button for dodge. It’s too awkward to do and still control shots and blocking, so I just don’t do it. It makes a really odd play style when you can’t dodge. I have to make sure to keep distance from grabbing specials, and my movement has to be very precise to use my legs to get out of danger instead of dodging out of it.
Anyone else have an odd way of playing or anything else strange?
Bumper jumper. If you want to play the game you need do have dodge up there. Removing thumbs from the sticks is a no go. And console still doesn’t have custom mapping.
I almost never play Slayer or GK and when I do play slayer, I always take throwing axes.
If I can’t snipe specials with my character, then I might as well commit sudoku.
If Microsoft ever makes an Elite controller that won’t break when you cough on it, I might switch to that. My friend uses the paddle attachments to do certain actions, and I could probably get the dodge function on that.
I´ve played longbowstalker way more than i ever should have and i still have episodes where i shoot just about anything except my intended target. My trueflight arrows fly by the same creed.
Actually had a case where i shot them into a horde and they just flat out flew past the horde, over a wall and hit a chaos patrol way off in the distance, i had not marked them and i didnt know they were there.
I played slayer only for quite some time after that.
Even though I’m pretty decent at consistently and accurately hitting heads with the melee weapons I’m used to, my aim with ranged weapons is sometimes absolute crap, somehow. Whiffing shots left and right. Can’t-hit-a-nearby-target-with-a-handgun level crap. Those days I just go “screw it” and I take a flamethrower.
I actually don’t like melee system in this game and stay in mostly because of that juicy fire magic and some other ranged stuff.
Isn’t it wacky to dislike melee fight in first person hack and slash game?
I also find builds that I like that aren’t the optimal current hotness but I stay with them. There are some combinations that I made right after beta on Xbox that I still use even though they aren’t the strongest anymore. It’s mainly because I’ve built up so much muscle memory with them. It is better for me to use a underpowered combination that has an attack pattern I’m really good with instead of using an overpowered one that I’m terrible using.
Ok, for real. The whispering voices at the end of Blightreaper set my anxiety off. This is why I couldn’t play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
There was also a bug I reported where Skarrik charges you, and all the other sound cuts out, but he’s EXTREMELY LOUD. It almost gave me a heart attack.
By asking the developers. Or as in that case by being an FS employer and getting preferred treatment But you can’t do it yourself as your existence has to be erased from Fatshark’s servers manually by the person in charge.
I’m always looking up so high that it makes tagging difficult. I do this to be ready to land melee headshots at any time.
I aim for a Mauler’s head if the weapon I’m using has okay superarmour damage, even if bodyshots would still do more damage. In general, I go for headshots on everything even if bodyshots would be quicker/higher dps at the time.
I often get hit trying to lower my block too late to raise it again to parry.
I try to stay in front of a monster/lord for headshots even when its aggro is on someone else.
I shoot players that have shot me with the Rapier’s pistol when they aren’t looking.
I like to shoot the Rapier’s pistol without blocking to show off… which usually results in me getting hit.
I almost always overshoot bombs out of fear of friendly fire, frequently dealing little damage to anything.
I play very carefully during a match until I get hit, at which point I become recklessly aggressive.
I get too focused on what is in front of me and sometimes don’t notice when an ally needs help until a few seconds after, even if the UI is letting me know.
Edit: I also often miss because I aimed too high for a headshot.
