Update on Maintenance for Unlocked and Loaded

Thanks for letting us know.

The rollout of this has been frustrating for many. It IS strange that people with 100% of the blessings pre-patch got mixed results under the new system, whereas others that didn’t have everything say that they ended up with full mastery across the board.

This is a real headscatcher. The former case is more in line (sadly perhaps) with how the math was explained to work. The latter case I have no idea what happened. Were people logged in and playing during the maintenance period and their frozen blessings somehow unfroze in a way that gave them everything?

I will say that sacrificing weapons does give a nice boost to XP. I had piles of duplicate weapons from the old system and being able to turn those into mastery has let me max out a good number of weapons in short order.

At this point, there are some quality of life issues related to this update that could be addressed and would make for happy players:

  1. It’s great that you you can buy items from brunt, upgrade to green, and sacrifice for mastery. But it’s also a lot of silly button pushing. Why not just have an option to spend resources to upgrade mastery and skip the intermediate steps. Seems really time wasting (as anticipated).

  2. Something weird is going on with the stat bars where the maximums change their values during upgrading. Maybe this is a known issue?

  3. I feel the UI for weapon displays still needs to ALSO show the current BASE RATING for weapons.

  4. Weapon lists NEED much better sorting options. This needs to be a priority. The mod “Item Sorting” adds an option to sort items based on weapon family, then mark, and then rating. It is a so much better and logical way to sort things.

  5. There is a lot of clicking across all these menus, made worse because many hotkeys were also removed. Why did you take away the “v” and “c” hotkeys for viewing weapon details and cosmetics. Totally unneeded and regressive change.

  6. Frustration with the Renaming of weapons has been mentioned a lot too.

Ultimately - I think the next set of work on Darktide should focus on Quality of Life. Look at the popular mods and implement those ideas - they honestly can’t be hard to do, especially with mods having already blazed the path.

Thank you for this Mezmorki. Well organized and thought out as always.

Edit: I’ll make sure all these points are added and communicated to the team.

Is there a reason why the names were changed, like engine requirements, item format changes, variable restrictions, localisation, GW etc., or was it on a whim to alienate all the current and past players who had even slightly remembered any of the arguably arbitrary names they already had?

I mentioned this elsewhere but: The changes were made to facilitate Itemization and the way it categorizes things. Which includes organizing things in the code.

I’ve been hearing everyone’s feedback (minus Amelia :joy: ) and I’m passing it back to the team.

Thanks, code cleanups are pretty useful and often not done enough. It’s just jarring having most of the items you had suddenly have the names change with very little visible consistency or pattern.

Is that the staff that magnetically pushes enemies in flak and carapace armour away or pulls them together into a ball?

I hear you and that’s been one of the main parts I’ve been communicating

I clearly don’t see the how and the why.

Darktide has not even a way to sort inventory by weapon category!!! This is that they should have implemented instead of a confusing name change.

Revert names change!!!
