When new Psyker talents were unearthed from the code I always imagined it would lead to a few bad nodes on the list might get a look over and possibly replaced. And this talent had to be the most egregious one.
Instead we got a whole lot of branches to pad out point tax.
This is fine though. All I’m proposing here? Turn it into a flavor node and give it silly voice triggers. Loner Psykers taunt and gloat, Savants give eulogies to the fallen and Seers… discombobulate. If anyone recalls the Inspire skill from Borderlands The Pre Sequel, all I’m basically suggesting is an ANTI-Inspire equivalent of a talent.
This way, I’d bet you’d see pick rates of this node increase tenfold without even crossing upon the touchy subject of balance and power creep.

or just not put stupid and bad activation clauses like ‘when people die or go down’. hiding quality VO behind trap talents would be worse than just fixing them to be less horrendous wastes of points.

Tough as Nails used to be a fantastic talent that revolved around dying teammates, so much so that it got hit with multiple nerfs. There’s nothing intrinsically stupid about said clauses.
Also, agree to disagree then. I can see people being insulted by skills and blessings in this game doing nothing for their dps but I only see it as a step up from the bugged talents that don’t even do anything for the game and a bit of meta humor from the devs to boot. To a lesser degree Ogryn’s BFR is more flavor than practicality and has to path through a similarly dead node to get to the rest of the talent tree, but that doesn’t stop players from taking the option of rock due to its novelty.
They also had +50% hero power for Handmaiden when your allies were dead forever ago…which was basically a dead talent except to solo play. Now all of those talents are gone pretty much and that game is better for it. It doesn’t double back and make them good ideas to have the talent tree now. Its still a dead node.
