Since the early launch of the game, I have had visual bugs all across the game that mess with shapes, textures. It is a hard to explain problem, but I have included some screenshots to help illustrate. One of the loading screens is completely messed up for me with janky looking versions of the cables and almost geometrical looking gaps in the helicopter floor. There are many fences around elevators that look squared, and very janky. Weapons have weird shapes, textures are not as they are supposed to be. I compared some places around the Psykhanium and the ship with what a friend saw and he clearly sees things as they are supposed to be and I do not. A huge issue is on the Carnival map where you defend the colliseum, a bunch of floor textures are just missing and I am walking on transparent assets.
I tried to reinstall the game, I tried to check file integrity and repair corruption, I did a full driver uninstall and clean reinstall with some help of a friend. None of the solutions ( which I have tried multiple times in various orders) solved the issue. The issue is constant, hard to describe, only present in this game and I have yet to hear someone else have the same problem.
The game is playable, but this problem does impact my experience greatly. Despite the problem I have about 1000 hours in Darktide because the gameplay is good enough that I have accepted the visual bugs. Now I would like to use this post as a last effort to see if I can find any tech expert or player who experienced my issue too. I will see if I can make more screenshots that show the issue.
this is not a glitch. those are the lower detail models that are for rendering at longer distance. the game is rendering them because for whatever reason they have not been qeued to update to the higher detail models for being closer. the game is working “as intended”, it’s just gotten confused about the rendering distance for those models, which is honestly pretty normal for fatshark’s engine.
it’s the exact same thing as the “Silent enemies” thing, not a glitch, just a quirk of how the engine has to handle enemy distance with so many mobs at once.
No, they did not intend for faraway LOD models to load in up close. It’s not intended and as such it’s a bug/glitch.
For what it’s worth they acknowledged this exact issue as a bug, and there’s some workarounds you can try. Check this thread there’s people referring/listing some of them
It is the whole game though. In cutscenes where there are no enemies. I am no tech person, maybe glitch is the incorrect word, but this is not working as intended and it is a visual problem impacting the game greatly.
Thanks for identifying in which corner this might origin, but do you have any ideas on how to solve the problem? I have tried many standard solutions and none worked
I would like to add that following the link to the other thread and the workaround someone posted there helped solve the issue. I have been playing a completely different looking game for years now, the experience is so much different now. Thanks for your help
