Yep plenty of that, don’t know why it’s so common when games release somehow.

Teschh Nickel stuff surely.

This fixes it with some performance impact, so the issue still needs to be fixed.

I just got up, so I’m gonna give it a game or two and see how much performance is affected, but this seems to have rectified the most glaring examples of LoD models. Replying to confirm that, to help the devs wrangling this bug further identify the issue. Thank you a ton!

There are multiple threads about this but this seems the most accurately described.

Happens 100% of the time to users with a Ryzen 5xxx series processor.
Can confirm the fix of turning off mesh streaming works for me too, but the performance penalty is pretty massive. This is NOT a game where you want streaming turned off.

My framerate went well enough utilizing the following settings: I trade off a lot of extra bells and whistles, but my Ryzen 5 3600X and 3060Ti are running it incredibly consistently with the following settings:

user_settings.config (3.2 KB)

I’m sure you could adjust it further to taste/hardware, though. I hope this helps you!

Same issue here, running on W10, 5900X, 32GB, RX6800, M2.
I’ll try the tips to see if it works.

Still an issue. It’s been months!
I have tried several times to use the mesh streamer fix but at least for me it absolutely kills the FPS. I mean, I go from 90 fps to 2-4. It’s not a viable fix for me.

ive just had to re-apply it. to get it to work again.

It’s not that it doesn’t work, it’s that the performance impact is so severe it becomes unplayable.
It’s bearable on the ship, but in game I’ll drop 45-50 fps. If I open the menu it drops another 10 until I’m seriously running 1-2 fps. The Mesh streamer fix is not viable for me.

You’re turning off a key part of the optimization of the game by disabling the mesh streamer, it’s curious that it seems to affect me so much more adversely than most. Logically speaking it should slaughter most machines.

Still present, acknowledged but not fixed

Issue has come back after major patch.

Does the fix work for you as well?

Issue still present in Hotfix 1.2.21

Adding this:
mesh_streamer_settings = {
disable = true
eviction_timeout = 5
frame_time_budget = 1
io_buffer_budget = 10240
limit = 700
}

to win32_Settings.ini also fixes temp fixes the issue.

Issue still present on version 1.3.1
