Are these the exact same twitch drops from last time? Also, why redo it if no one has drops enabled :joy:

Hate to admit it but I do collect these :face_in_clouds:

Here’s the inside info for those concerned…

I hate how no one is streaming with drops enabled. I’m about to do illegal activities to Fatshark headquarters.

No one is streaming lol.

Catfish will test the drop functionality with some selected streamers over the weekend first, because every time they tried it in the past it was pretty borked. Then, if it works, it will be open to everyone next week.

Hey again everyone,
the last few times we have tried to give out twitch drops they have been pretty borked. I have been working on fixing them and internal tests look solid so far.

I wanted to test for one day with a handful of streamers on the live environment before opening it up further incase there are still any issues that need to be ironed out!
The reason they are offline is that I set the campaign live yesterday while I was working, as the streamers are in different timezones to me, so they could stream while I was offline.

Today is the first testing day on a live environment, if all goes well I hope to roll it out further by the end of the weekend!

From a marketing perspective, I don’t get it.

Why give rewards to people who already play, and are invested enough to even want to give up 30 minutes of time?

Maybe a new player boon? Or even a refer a friend code. Idk

Jokes, thank you.

Ok from a marketing perspective look at it this way:

It is a fun and novel (for Fatshark) way to be able to give away skins (and maybe other things in the future :eyes:) to players while supporting our content creators and improving that ecosystem.

Not only this, but if we can do drops at a time where the game is on a 50% sale, we just released a big update, and we have done a content creator push - it improves the likelihood we convert those viewers to players.

Like the mythical aquila giveaways?

We’ve only done skins so far AFAIK. In fact these very skins in this campaign haha

It may be worth reminding the highers ups about things they’ve said that they forgotten about when it came to Twitch and aquilas, namely:

The in-game currency also opens up the door to Twitch drops and giving away premium cosmetics, which de Geer said Fatshark couldn’t do in Vermintide. “We can’t really go ‘here’s 5 bucks, spend it on our game in Steam, hopefully.’”

and

That, Wahlund said, was actually a mistake.
"We forgot to add one of the bundles. The idea was always to be 1:1. We realized a bit too late that one of the bundles wasn’t in.

I don’t think this has been forgotten for the record.

Just twitch drops has been kind of broken since launch. I am hoping this time we can finally giveaway these skins (which are the same rewards we ran at launch) without technical difficulties, and thus move on to more rewards!

With all the respect I doubt their claims. You may know it of course but for those who doesn’t here’s the reasoning to use gaming currency instead of real money:

  1. You cannot refund them and get real money. Because when buying a defective skin for real money you can revert this via Steam or other store and your explanation would be that the advertisement of the item was false. When you buy skin with in-game currency you cannot complain to the Digital Store for any purchases at all since you didn’t buy these skins, you bought currency and the currency was advertised correctly - these are just coins you can spend on whatever you like. So you can go directly to Fatshark and try to settle the matter with them. In the best case scenario for you you will be refunded these coins and not real money.

  2. They will sell you more than you need to make the purchase you’re looking for, basically overspending.

This sounds promising!

I stream Darktide sometimes and it would be awesome if people could earn some cosmetic drops from it.
