After completing the mid-event in the staircase maze room, where the four objects have to be destroyed to open the large door, normal waves, ambushes and specials stop spawning for the rest of the map until the finale.
This seems to happen consistently.
Could you please confirm whether this is intended or a bug?
I have attached the console log from a session where this occurred.
This behaviour happens consistently for all players and appears to be 100% reproducible. Every time after completing “Destroy the four wards” in the staircase maze, regular hordes and specials stop spawning until the end event starts.
The only exception I am aware of are the two fixed/scripted Blightstormers in the dining room with the six levers. Apart from scripted encounters like this, there are no regular hordes or specials during this entire section.
I also had ChatGPT analyse the console log, and it noticed something that may be relevant:
The last normal Time for new HOOORDE! entry occurs at 20:22:11.
wt_disable_pacing is triggered at 20:23:00.
After the mid-event ends, wt_enable_pacing is triggered at 20:26:22.
Despite this, no further normal horde entries appear for the remainder of the map.
Scripted events and patrols continue to spawn afterwards.
So it looks like the game does attempt to re-enable the normal pacing after the event, but the regular horde/special spawning does not resume.
Personal comment: I really hope this can be changed. It makes a very large part of the map, between the mid-event and the finale, extremely uneventful. Hordes and specials are a major part of what makes Vermintide’s gameplay engaging, and without them this section unfortunately turns into something close to a walking simulator, apart from a few ambient enemies and small patrols.
