ironically i had the exact opposite yesterday with the match i mentioned.
had a clear chance of stabilizing the situation, yet at the end everyone but me was laying face down and the medpack was to little to late, especially getting flushed backwards by numbers.
its situational for sure, still i tend towards “use it or lose it” in higher diffs with unfamiliar pubs.
But… however easy in practice, the reality is more entangled in emotion.
We are not all born with equal speed of wit or reflex. It can be difficult to convey large amounts of information in a short sentence at a moments notice in the middle of a game.
Its a skill and while Iv gotten better at it, I generally have to go back and review what I just wrote to make sure its concise enough, not too verbose, I sometimes remove huge flowery words because everyones at different levels of English and Id rather be understood than seem smarter than I am because I can write big word real good. Iv gone over this post like 5 times already
Absolutely. And I don’t mean to dig at you with my sentiment toward the situation you describe in the OP, so if it was taken that way at all I apologise.
TBH my thoughts about this are more of a response to the “correct play” people than they are toward your actions. I think being a good team mate is more important than doing everything 100% optimally.
Conversely; we can’t complain about poor play in higher levels if experienced players demonstrate bad practice at lower ones. Well, assuming you think it’s not the right thing to do, of course.
No right answer. But I think the greater good for the game is withholding. Those that want to learn, will.
I would say that it was correct to not use the medikit.
Especially cause you could use it when a new fight will start. Like that all players could get the benefit of it.
Im generally interested in various opinions and its why I made the thread. I dont want anyone to feel called out on or wrong for stating what they would do.
Its hard to get a thread with people disagreeing without there being clashes.
usually mine gets better the more inabriated i am, to a certain point anyways.
so the english fellow i met while on vacation years ago was quite pleasantly surprised to keep the conversation going without “toning down”
but the english language has so many “precise treasures” like “git” & “tw4t” i’m sure one can make a point with even the tiniest of flowery
now add to that i only found years later warhammer to be a british thing, i can say i met a friendly ogryn in real life guy was a big fellow to and not far away from the game’s face preset.
so whereas according to the matrix swearing in french has this silky tp thing to it, here we got straight to the point git & tw4t.
We’ve reached a point in the game and player base where you can’t feel the least bit guilty for these “main character” selfish types, don’t feel sad. The problem was clearly on their end, sure you could have explained it but it would likely not have changed the outcome, it would likely only be met with more vitriol.
The sooner this community realizes the carrot ain’t working anymore and it’s time to pull out the stick and start policing itself, the better for all involved, save the trolls.
I promise you this guy fumed for a few seconds then went on to drag down someone else’s team; Grut em.
ok there are people who drop a medpack right before reaching a medicae, so that’s clearly because of not knowing the map, or general lack of experience, carried away with bashing 5 groaners etc.
now ogryn can afford going down once more than puny humans, was he on his last wound?
and were you 3 healthy people able to resurrect him?
if yes, then i hope he stays, learns, and behaves differently next time.
generally, it’s better you use your stuff rather than lose it (when you’re dead), and better continue orderly with 3 people instead of rushing to the rescue like lemmings.
Its a shame but thats a possibility and it certainly shapes my interactions with people. If only I could pause time end edit myself during real-time conversations
Maybe, maybe not. Mostly I hope they are chill and not even thinking about it
I am the type of player if someone calls for a medkit and I don’t have a green stabby, I drop it regardless. I find that supporting your teammates creates more opportunities.
Suddenly that player you healed is tagging and leaving ammo for you, giving you a stim or even pointing out the next medkit trusting you will have their back, instead of leaving or barking nonsense in the chat, healing teammates go a long way.
I also think using a medkit will spawn one nearby, might be copium and I am curious if there are a finite number or how that works.
Its the ammo crate I will hold till players are running low, but I am always generous with healing.
better… I have seen one guy dropping the medikit IN FRONT of the medicae.
Litteraly, I took the ammo crate, tagged the medikit. Medicae had charges.
The guy took the medikit, and wasted it…
Hopefully, it was just damnation not auric… but still.
I’ve seen this happen an alarming number of times on Damn Aurics, I collect the screenshots. Between that and the martyr zealots always being fully healed, I die a little inside.
The tired “I don’t know the map layout” excuse is just that, an excuse that doesn’t hold up. Even if you didn’t know the map, there’s no reason to waste valuable team supplies.
Don’t give. Ogryn has more wounds, can take a down, and you can give them the next heal. Save the medkit for an actual emergency and not just “but I wanna feel safe NOW!”
