To FS: Why do you have to push Ogryn Sluggishness too much?

Box of hurt does need something more to make it a compelling choice over either rocks or nukes. A increase in the amount you have would be pretty good. I’ve also found that the defensive keystone is the one I always gravitate towards, and I don’t even bother to go for the extra keystone modifiers on it aswell, as I find the just not to be worth it, even against just stat nodes with toughness etc.

While Heavy Hitter isn’t that bad, I just don’t like the gameplay loop of primarily using heavy attacks. Lucky Bullet on the other hand, gives way to little, at a glance it does seem like a good deal… but as it is now only the stubbers, which can do a continues firing gain some benefit from it.

Hi man, thank you for the input. Surprisingly I have a pretty good result zooming with Ripper gun on a reaper because he is a big target, and if I’m not too far with good enough stability stat, it takes down a reaper quite fast. Other than that, you’re absolutely right.

I agree he is super slow and hope that the dodge distance would be scaled more to his size as he cannot dodge mutants or trappers which is really annoying especially on auric.

Personally he could use just a bit of a buff to his shield light melee. Its sooo sooo slow.

I dunno if we will be getting faster variants with shield like bullbutcher/shield or the suppression shield we suggested in the other thread. I certainly hope so.

What I think the big man is lacking is 2-handed weapons. It would benefit and spice up the gameplay.

Also I find the kickback essentially useless, it should have the slug / regular shell. To make it more viable in killing specials.

I would also see a big benefit if you could stagger muties with mouse 3 (bullbutcher) and other 1h. Likewise the shield should stop nets and muties. This would it give more utility.

The biggest problem is that enemies just walk through the ogryn and then hit you in the back. I dunno what to call it but its really getting on my nerves. Therefore, the shield is not so useful when blocking.

Personally I would like to see a smaller shield for mobility and offensive potential and chainsword, two handed chain axe, powerpick. Or literally anything for him, to make him an actual melee monster he should be. One handed is just bit meh, like fighting with tooth pick…

Agree about the lucky bullet. Personally I think the talents he has are great, but the problem is the attack speed and slow down using for example the shield. Light 1 is way too slow combine that with the slow movement speed and dodge penalty of carrying them.

Similarly the deployed stance and ”raised shield” leave you open. Again dodge malus with muties and trappers is really painful to handle. He does not have anything really to counter them outside the rock, which I personally do not use as middle tree gives more variety and better bonuses.

However while this is an universal critique, note that I play mainly melee oriented big man varying between stubber, rumbler depending on situation. The bleed nerf was not great tho, I found it was good and did not see the need to nerf it. Muties are unkillable with shield now…

Hi Nixon, thank you for your insights. It seems like you play Ogryn quite a lot. I would love to see a better version of Ogryn too. Not in terms of damage but in terms of fluidity. So that he has better carry potential rather than being a living shield that becomes almost useless once all the teammates are dead–no aura to regen toughness and difficult to move/dodge.

Have a great day!

The sluggishness of the weapons is definitely a thing. Whenever I’m playing my Ogryn, I feel like I’m wallowing in molasses. I stick with my MkIII cleaver over every other weapon unless I’m playing my Shield build. The club weapons all feel…awful, even though they can hit like a truck. The Ogryn attack speed for many weapons isn’t just bad, it’s so slow that it’s often immersion breaking, particularly with the completely dead hang time for much of it, it feels really forced and awkward.

I’ve seen entire Longsword and Sabre bouts in HEMA competition take place and end with multiple blows struck by both combatants in the 3 seconds it takes an Ogryn to wind back and slam a shield on someone’s head

There’s only three things about Ogryn I feel is too slow.

The fire delay on autoguns.

The slow down from activating the power maul.

And the mk 3b brute basher has way too slow heavies.

I mean, they have to balance it somehow.
Even post-toughness nerf Ogryn outshines the others with 3-4 times the Max HP as well as a toughness regen that is sanctioned by the God Emperor himself. Not to forget, free extra wound and a stack of survivability options that nobody else can compete with.

Hi RTO, indeed I do. He is my go to guy, not so much anymore as I have all penances, weapons, blessings and cosmetics he has. ( I have 2 level 30 ogryns with different voice).

I will get back to him, once we see some new weapons or 2h. I think is in a good place talentwise and a good ogryn player will carry / clutch the team but the problem is the weapons, they are soo soo slow. The damage and speed will result him being stunlocked by net or for example 2 muties and result in failure.

Hence the needed changes. Thanks also for your compliments and likewise have a good day / good weekend!

Yeah the main problem is the speed. I agree with you totally, glad to see others notice this as well.
