Old thread: “Am I the only one who feels the game is dying?”
A crazy but simple question.
But reading answers I just changed it.

Yes
A simple answer
How so ? Player base wise, not really, Dev abandonment, i hardly would think so.
Frame rate ? eh I guess I’ll give that one, but it’s not more than usual.
If FS continue on this same path of “Head in the sand” attitude, the game will continue to die. It is rather sad the game has come to this as it has a lot of potential and a lot more characters (Interesting characters) that could be added. We all know that GW pull the strings behind the scene and it is one of the main reasons GW games die so rapidly. Mind you FS Devs are not helping, which is adding to the games demise.
Its dying
and not to mention console cant even hold a candle performance is sooo shot.
yawn. another “game dying/already dead” thread. getting real sick of doomposting
Please respect ones opinion’s in a forum. You have a right to not agree for sure, but a negative way of posting in such ways as yours give bad taste all round.
That completely depends on how you measure what “dying” is I guess. If it takes longer than I have patience for to get a group to play as an always online game, then it is dying. It hasn’t come anywhere close to that for me, I get full random groups within 10-30 seconds easily.
Maybe I used the wrong words.
People usually say a game is “dead” when there are no enough players playing it.
What I was trying to say is maybe more like “Is anyone else losing excitement on the game” / “Feeling what you do in the game is too repetitive?”
Thanks for all the answers BTW.
I am actually afraid that people loses interest.
And yes, we know GW has killed some games.
Yes, and before you pull up steamcharts: I don’t care, because console players are not counted there.
FS should do more regular week long or weekend for free to attract more players. Then a fraction would probably buy it.
It’s like £8 from legit steam key websites. Cheaper than DLC, cheaper than cosmetic set.
Also it gives confidence on assessing system requirements.
Black Myth Wukong even has a free benchmark tool to download separately to give hardware reassurance to anyone wanting to purchase it, and answer their question “Can my PC run it”
I don’t believe it’s even remotely at that point yet (nor has really ever been truthfully), and I’ll break it down with some napkin maths based on my personal experiences.
So, I’ll pull some numbers from the charts on SteamDB; lets cherry pick a day with low pop before the update+Scum released

Now, in my experience, since the gamepass + both console ports released, the entire time almost exclusively with solo queue into pugs (maybe with a friend or two about 10% of the time), I’ve always found an equal number of Xbox/Gamepass players as Steam Players, and about a third to a half of those numbers being PlayStation players. To this day, I can still find full lobbies in quickplay of any difficulty at any time of day, the only times that isn’t the case is when it’s something like 3am on a Wednesday for a Dog+Mutie+Poxburster Maelstrom; Not because the game is “dead” or “dying”, but because nobody wants to do the terrible modifiers lmao, and even then, after starting the mission, the lobby tends to fill long before the time of the first combat encounter ![]()
Anyway, for the numbers proper, assuming it’s a vaguely equal global spread of these populations, then I’d assume on a day with a SteamDB tracking of ~6k, then I’d assume there’ll be a similar number of Gamepass/ Xbox players (so around ~6k also there), and then anywhere from 2-3k PlayStation players, giving a total daily player count of ~15k on a bad day long after the last big patch, when server issues are usually at their worst. That’s also not to mention how, iirc, Console players can choose to disable crossplay; if that’s the case then these theoretical numbers could be even higher.
Based on that, I’d say the so-called “doomposting” is largely unnecessary and isn’t based on anything concrete in particular.
Of course, this isn’t a perfect calculation, but it should (I hope) put things in perspective.
TL; DR: The game is not dying or dead, the player population is fine.
It’s like how people in the CSGO community have been constantly saying “CSGO is dying” for years after years. But even after more than a decade, it’s still alive and even growing, lol. Despite everyone’s negative views towards it.
I think the public just naturally have a much more subjectively negative view towards anything and everything in life, as compared to true objective reality.
I will change the title ._.
the game was doing fine enough with 2-3k players
a) in terms of waiting time for a lobby
b) quality of those remaining players who were really motivated and into the game
200k tourists wouldn’t make the game “better” other than temporarily pleasing the shareholders and maybe (and thats a big maybe for someone sniffing into the game for a couple weeks at best) buy a cosmetic or two.
revenue was made at purchase, revenue is being made with the diehard fans that stick around no matter what.
in that case Yes. This is a perfectly normal thing to feel when doing a thing for a while. Doesn’t matter how fun it is, eventually you’re gonna get bored of it.
It doesn’t necessarily mean DT is any less fun or that the game is dying, just that you’re getting bored. Take a break and come back when you feel like it. Worked for me, especially when the ganger update dropped.

It’s really a game for short bursts. i.e. 2-3 games, call it a night then it feels more fresh each time.
For hours on end in one session. The hand fatigue alone. Not healthy to put your mind into high tension continously for long periods.
