No offense meant here, so don’t take this the wrong way, but this is all very shallow for me to read. Your praise for Darktide isn’t genuine if you list more problems than positives.
I’ve already played 3 games with only bots, I don’t know what’s going on, I play on Xbox PC, considering it’s Saturday evening, I don’t know how it is on Steam but game pass looks kinda bad in terms of server population today, yesterday it was busier on the server. How would it be to get cross play as soon as possible, Steam - Xbox PC.
SO tired of all the brown knights defending a game that barely works as if the whole forest of threads in Technical Discussion doesn’t exist for them.
sighhhhh
The core gameplay is good, not flawless. There are a lot of number issues and significant lack of epic moments. The events are not all that interesting. Compare to events of VT2 where nearly all of them have the Uber5 walking out of an exploding mess like badasses who don’t look at explosions.
The bosses are lame, both monstrosities and assassinations. Compare to the Bodvarr and Burblespew with the dude we got Idk what his name even is or if the two assassinations are even a different dude. Compare Rat Ogre with Plague Ogryn. We should be expanding what we had before, not trimming them down to bare minimums.
This game is awesome, make no mistake, I agree to that 100%, but no masterpiece.
Alone that it starts with unfinished features, way less classes and stuff to do than the “predecessor”, an ingame shop run on manipulation and deceiving design patterns rule the masterpiece-part out.
For example Zelda - Ocarina of Time was a masterpiece.
I am glad that you like the game and it is important and true to point out the good parts, still I would propose to support the threads with valid criticism, too, so that Darktide gets improved instead making a thread to put hate on the community.
Also, while many are rather angry, true, the word “toxic” is a bit too strong IMHO and uncalled for. Otherwise we would need to call many things (like the features missing, the unclear communication, etc…) toxic.
This game is broken garbage at the moment. It runs horribly, it is full of serious bugs, it crashes frequently. It also has questionable aspects like the garbage RNG gear system, only having limited missions available, having an extreme amount of grind, having serious balance issues. Fatshark is a bunch of clowns and so is the original poster.
Considering that the comments I have read regarding negative feedback range from “This game has problems that should be fixed” to “I believe we should perform public execution of the devs for this heresy they have committed”, and the ratio of these are around 1:10, I think the term “toxic” is apt enough.
Because there very much is critical feedback, things that have been said time and time again, ranging from RNG shops, timegated content, lack of general content, weapon balancing, class balancing and so on so forth, there are two ways to go about it. Calm, rational way of saying that things should be fixed, and then there is what most topics in here Forums tend to end up titled, which I already eluded at earlier, which are not exactly feedback as more just rage-filled rants from people that didn’t get VT3 - 40k edition.
Having discussed this with a friend that isn’t exactly a super fan of the game right now, the thing that has become obvious to me is how few actually acknowledge the game as its own thing as opposed to it being VT3 which vast majority of the people that hop into the game think it is. This is very much Dark Souls vs Bloodborne argument reborn, as people acknowledge that they are of the same genre and from the same devs that follow a certain recipe, but both approach the concept in vastly different ways which is where the fun factor comes in.
I am enjoying DT significantly more right now than I have EVER done with VT. I have finished all campaigns and done several runs of Chaos Wastes in Vermintide, but my time with it totals up to 38 hours, of which all was done simply with Bardin and Ironbreaker due to various reasons, most of them linked to bad progression system that discouraged multi-levelling. I have 136 hours in DT as of now, and I have all 4 classes levelled up to 30 because the gameplay loop was significantly more satisfying for me as the feedback in the game from how weapon impacts affect the enemies to effects of melee weapons just was absolutely spot on and kept me engaged.
The only thing keeping me from playing the game ‘non-stop’ is that I am having more fun playing with friends than I am with randoms, mostly because it is more fun to coordinate and throw banter around. The main point is, different strokes for different folks. The game had a very rough start, yes, but so did VT1 and 2, this is normal for Fatshark, yet people are acting like babies because the game isn’t flawless due to the sin of it not being VT3 they themselves pictured it to be.
I am not obviously ignoring the blatantly predatory business practices and timegated stuff in the game mind you. The game currently has flaws. Would I say it is a masterpiece? No, not right now. Give it, say, nearly 5 years of development like VT2 has gotten, and then we can ask this same question again, and odds are my answer will be yes by that point.
Even here, in this topic, people start to spread heresy like “you protect”, “brown knight” and other sick and silly, foolish stuff.
Yet my point is pretty clear - I’m not against criticism, I always believed and continue to do so, that criticism IS GOOD, it SAVES any kind of project. I’m against this hysterical nonsense I’m seeing all around, with this “what?! no numbers of mutants killed in the end? your game will die.”
Continue with criticism, continue to point out problems. Stop being hysterical.
Well I’m tired of with or against is mentality. This game can be fun but it has stuff it doesn’t need to have and features missing that it should have. That’s called being realistic.
The game is fun but it should have been in early access still. Look at 7 days to die. The game has been in early access since 2013, and people aren’t complaining that much knowing that it’s not full release. But when DT fully launched on the 30th of nov with well know performance issues, crashes, various errors, cut content, shitty mission hub, bugged penances, no ACTUAL crafting system, missing weapons, etc etc, of course people would rise up and complain. When you expect a full released product and get a half baked instead, people will have words.
Why did i pay full price for a game that doesnt run right and doesnt have all the features that should have had ? I mean … VT1 and VT2 needed time to cook, but DT is just plain dough at this point.
Should have had a payment plan for darktide. Every “major content” release (that should have been there from the get-go) i’ll pay 3-5 euros, adding up to 40€ when the game will actually have all the features needed ingame, and no issues with performance, no crashes, no random errors.
I feel like i paid 40 bucks just to further beta test the game. These are my 2 cents right now. Love it or hate it.
Seriously? I mean, compared to Tetris, sure. Compared to VT/VT2, it’s ludicrous.
Let’s exclude bugs and so many details that are rough as hell; I love the visuals, the soundtrack is indeed very good, the gameplay itself decent so far, but as for the rest… Coming from VTs, this feels very bad and disappointing.
Whoa, if this should be true, then okay, granted, but I did not see (so far) such posts - and not that many excessively angry - and I am here quite often.
Still, it could be worded more calmly then, because if it is really that bad, why fan the flames?
This. I kindda hate the fact that we can create our own characters. I love the ubersreik 5 ! They have their own personalities, different dialogue when playing different specializations ( viktor considered a peasant cause kruber is bretonnian as grail knight). When i play DT and hear another zealot with the same voice … praise Sigmar ! It’s unnatural !
In VT1 and VT2 we have sweet dialogues almost all the time. Even when just waiting in the keep we get to hear backstories on the US5. DT just feels bland.
I just love how FS praised the raytracing in DT as if it were the best thing since sliced bread and had to disable it the moment the game was launched.
And such a nice solution for the BT headphones problem, you just can’t make this up…
That’s one of the reasons why I cannot get bored in VT2.
Plus, of course, the way the game uses those dialogues to constantly provide you with relevant information in a fun way. Of course, I may be a bit slow and I just haven’t realized that DT has that too - I will take it back if I do manage to detect anything similar in DT.
The only cool stuff i’ve heard was about ratling snipers and that’s it. Other than that it’s the usual: zola, tech-priest and Grendyl (from time to time). Nothing special. Since you might get paired in with a player that has a similar background as yours, i think that the dialogue just isn’t triggered. I say again, i was sad to hear that we don’t get preset characters in DT (the ones that we saw in the trailers and splash-arts, and even in the prologue mission). If DT was a MMO, fine, but this isn’t the case.
