Time out for quitters

I have to concur. The problem of quitters is exacerbated by the absurdly long time we have to wait between play sessions.

You have to wait at then game over screen.
You have to wait to load the morning start.
You have to run to the mission terminal to select a mission.
You have to wait to join the mission lobby.
You have to wait for the mission lobby timer.
You have to wait for the mission to load.
You have to wait for the mission start animation to end.
And you have to walk a mile to get back into action.

Fix this, and I guarantee you won’t care about quitters anymore.

to build on that, a lot of people in vermintide don’t leave on a loss because they just go back to the keep with the same crew and they can restart again quickly. I don’t even know if the ā€˜keep strike group’ thing works right now. Why isn’t it enabled by default like it is in vermintide?

To cycle people through as many hubs as they can per session to get you to see other people’s cosmetics.

Yeah as a note since I commented earlier I don’t think the time out is a great idea since the time to start and time to end is so long for both. On top of that seeing the bugs where people can get stuck in the null zone or having the one guy that refuses to get on the elevator/ in the air lock really makes that a nope.

As a note I wish the morning star was a lot more personalized or we at least got something like the bar / personal quarters. I think cards with Mesozi or even just a general hangout spot would make it feel less like a hub and more like a ship

Control freaks ruin games. Don’t be a control freak. Just like I get told about my when I don’t want my ā€œOOPS All [CLASS]ā€ games, get a pre-made.

and yet people complained when you got full plasteel / diamantine on wipe because people would consistently be punching higher than their weight class to get free stuff. Having better rewards for wipes is not the solution.

Something we’ll actually agree on. I’m all for getting NOTHING on failure personally but I know that will upset the playerbase.

you’d still have to load into the hub even if strike groups were enabled by default tho

i never once saw a complaint about that. maybe in your circle.

Ditto. But sometimes just stuff happens. Knock at the door. Phone call. Urgent call of nature. Etc

I’d love if we could do an l4d2 thing where you can let a bot take over for (up to) 3 minutes. I’ve asked for that for ages. I just don’t get why they’ve not implemented it. We have bots. They can take place in a game. Why can’t I have a bot play for a quick sec rather than having to quit? if I’m 20 minutes into a round that’s quite a bit of game time for no game reward.

If you alt+f4 instead of quitting normally, I’m pretty sure the game saves your spot for up to 5 minutes.

The bots are incredibly bad and this can tank a run, so I’m not sure if I endorse this… but the option is there :stuck_out_tongue:

Not gunna lie if I could steal a feature from L4D it would probably be that. It’s better than yelling emergency and hoping your friend covers your afk corpse while you need to do something like answer a phone call or get the door.

True, but you also then matchmake with new people too.

I was also thinking of Vermintide 1, where you can retry or queue up the next or random map of the same difficulty with the same team from the score screen, so Vermintide 2 was a bit of a regression too, but not as egregious as Darktide.

As a general rule, if League of Legends has implemented something, that something is probably a terrible idea that will lead to more toxic behavior by punishing the playerbase.

In this case, yes absolutely, punishing players for leaving a game is basically always the wrongest thing possible. If your teammate has to leave because they have an appointment to get to, and then you fail, that’s not their fault, and people don’t need to be punished for it, especially considering a pretty good reason people might leave a game is because one of their teammates is being an abusive dirtbag.

If your teammate bails and then you die as a result, I think the solution should be make the bots actually decent enough to not be such dead weight.

to be clear in the op im talking about people quitting after being downed near the end. im not talking about people having things come up and need to leave occasionally half way through,

just people that are down / in the end event.

i don’t see any instance where someone leaving after being downed is a bad thing. they get replaced by a bot, who can then be replaced by another actual player. i’ve seen this save runs countless times. i actually hope someone leaves after going down now, just so that we have a better chance of completing the mission.

i also feel like people that people that go down, deserve it most of the time, and i’d rather them not be on the team, tbh lol when it comes to admn+, you want the best players so you can complete the mission. people going down all the time make that more difficult. i don’t wanna have to worry about constantly reviving the same person, and babysitting them for the entire mission, especially on higher difficulties.

i can’t even remember a single time where someone left after dying, and i thought, ā€œoh damn, that person was really good. we’re screwed nowā€ lol

Nah. There’s lot’s of good reasons to just bail on a game sometimes. One of which is replacing dead player with a functional bot. And as long as they are letting underpowered and under skilled players in T5 I just can’t blame people for not wanting to put up with it.

Underpowered and unskilled people are the ones leaving, not the okay and good ones.

Agreed that they should not even be let in.

Seriously, who cares?
If they leave you get a bot immediately, which can be clutch if everyone is down.
If everyone gets wiped they made the right call and were right to leave. If not, then the game continues, and a new person is likely to join soon enough.

It really is a non issue.

Maelstrom. I have written it many times, if the fraggin mission leaves the board, we get noone.
