There are plenty occasions for Sniper Rifles. You all seem to get confused with the close quarter parts of the map, in which most guns are useless (that is why melee exists) but there are just enough parts for ranged fire-fights. A Sniper would be more useful than the Kantrael Lasgun at picking off foes in that it would be a 1 shot kill with greater armor penetration instead of 2-3 shots. It would also be superior to the Helbore in that it wouldn’t need to charge up a shot (maybe a 1 second cooldown per shot, making it an inverse to the Helbore.)
On this, I will trust you. Cause I admit I have never tried to play with bayonnet.
You can… weapon has nothing to do with being suppressed or not. But there’s one talent that permits this.
I agree. And I have said that I think it is a balanced gun. However, it is the closest weapon in the role of sniper rifle, I don’t think a rifle that would be more on the sniper role than the helbore could be a good idea.
Helbore, as I said, is a elite removal tool. You can be really effective with it, but I feel that it asks me more concentration than an other gun where I will be more confortable and will deploy less effort for same result.
I don’t see it like you… but…
When I see what exists in WH40K universe as sniper rifle… well, we have the HEAVY sniper rifle (space marine sniper rifle, Bolt sniper rifle) or long las.
So call your sniper gun a long-las (I doubt we could have Needle Sniper Rifle… but we have Power swords…). Not sure what this gun could give more than a helbore.
Jump into a match and you’ll see. Take note of every time where there’s shooters just out of range for your Autogun/Shotgun/Bolter to hit them accurately or efficiently. Happens quite often.
More Armor Penetration and no Charge up time (And a scope)
That’s because you’re using a faulty weapon. Mark 3 Is total garbage and mark 1 is just… BLEH, try out Mark 2, i guarantee you it is infinitely better. I use it as my main gun on auric 5 and A.maelstrom and i end up with the highest amount of overall damage/ranged elites/specials/disablers killed often enough to say for certain im doing a proper job and arent dragging the team down.
I’d say around 50-60% of the times for dmg (either that or its evenly distributed between the team)
About 70% of the times for specials/disablers
And around 90-95% of the times for ranged elites (as i should since its my main job in the team)
I’d say the only problem hellbore has is that it cannot deal with carapace well enough but that’s what the krak nade is for.
And also once a very THICC horde is coming your way AND you’re not at a choke point you’re going to have a bad time.
If there is a choke point you can use the helbore good penetration to thin out the horde pretty efficiently.
And also, remember to use the bayonet, if the game goes well you would never need to pull out your melee weapon in the entire match. (except for the pox bursters, and if you’re not confident in your bayonet skills then for the hounds as well)
(as for the scope deal, i found that using the vraks ironsights works best for it (funny coincidence) (at least for me, pretty sure other people prefer the laspistol/lasgun sights so it depends from person to person. with the exception of the magnification scopes, they really are just terrible for this game)
If you’re interested in giving this very underappreciated weapon one last chance i can give you the full build.
if you are a bad enough dude to rescue the president you can stagger poxbursters with all bayonet attacks. its way harder with Mk3 because it sends them sideways, but if you avoid a headshot and teammates haven’t hit them for roughly 900 damage first you will send them straight backwards instead of exploding from a stab. extremely helpful considering the weapon’s long swap time.
Like every single rifle/pistol we have?
Against melee, staves…
What I would like is the handgun from VT2. 'One-shot-body-shot’s all specials. Can body shot or headshot all but the strongest elites. Is single shot with a medium reload and a low-ish reserve but is a threat deleter.
Whatever form of weapon that needs to take, do it, but I want my handgun back. Heck, given the disparate nature of 40k tech, they could even just port it over as a straight-up muzzle-loading rifle and it’d fit right in, lore-wise.
Already there… at least until they balance it.
This is called Zorona MK IIa Quickdraw Revolver.
Could just make it a high penetration, powerful single shot gun without actually revolving its gameplay around sniping.
Probably will suit well with weapon specialist build.
Sniper rifle with specialist?? better marksman, and even if I don’t use any keystone (cause they are better options for these points).
Idk, weapon specialist keystone seem pretty good to me. The reload on melee kill is also pretty nice when pairing with high damage, low magazine weapon like Saw-off shotty.
Also if the gun by itself already could kill most stuff it would be overkill to buff its damage even higher with marksman build.
Tested it… you’re right.
However, I don’t feel any keystone intuitive. Marksman encourage you to not move, and in darktide that’s really a bad idea.
Weapon specialist encourage you to switch constantly between ranged and melee weapon. Not fun.
For a sniper rifle, long-las, if they would put better damages than revolver, it would mean one shot anything in the game, except monsters, and without any ability / keystone.
I would not see any interest in taking keystones in this scenario. As I posted some time ago, I tend to always use the same bottom.
PS: Actually I play with Graia brauto on my vet, so won’t switch to helbore
