This is a serious problem

Shouldn’t September be the third major update as planned? Why haven’t we seen any news at all? Fat Shark, take a look at the current player retention rate!

Ohh, I know the answer, pick me! They don’t give a sht… :joy: It’s all about that DLC cashcow, baby. They put in their work for it & washed their hands clean until next time.

2023 fall update was at the end of October.

No the summer was exceptionally warm and temperate so they frolicked in meadows and fields much later into the season. Really put in a good shift picking berries and making preserves.

Video game?

I’m more concerned about the content of the update rather than the timing. Let them cook, and then roast them for the results

We havent heard any news, and this is my personal theory, because
A) FS has so much stuff to work on for DT
B) Tencent saw the numbers and revenue Arbitrator brought in and expect the same results from this new update which FS just cant do

In regards to A), FS has to do things like working on Arbitrator cosmetics, weapon nerfs and reworks (Namely the Dueling Sword, Plasma Gun, and Smite) but they cant be too hard or else the players who crutched on those weapons come out of the works and b!tch and moan, general balance changes, optimization (I hope), Havoc changes, Mortis Trial changes (unfortunately), talent tree reworks for Vet and Zealot and maybeeee Psyker, new weapons, new maps, and maybe new cosmetics. They’ve backed themselves into a corner with how many things they have and have not done and kinda need to do something at this point.

In regards to B), its self explanatory. Tencent saw how much revenue and players the Arbitrator update brought in and looked at FS and said “This is the new standard for your updates from now on”. With FS working on their second game and with VT2, just cant do this. Theyre stretched too thin and need to explain to Tencent that this just isnt possible. But its Tencent, so they may aswell have left FS on read lmao

Again this is just my personal schizo theory

I dunno about all that, but the quarterly updates plan was set in Jan 23 and the quarterly updates don’t really get firm dates or like any comms until they’re basically done.

Those mandatory Swedish holidays that happen the same time every year snuck up on them again.

we can add 2025 seasonality as another lie to the list next to the recent ‘balance changes in between major updates’.

  • This has nothing to do with Tencent. Tencent has made extensive investments but does not interfere in the studio’s work. This is a consensus. In fact, if Tencent were to take over Fat Shark, the output rate of Fat Shark’s content would be at least 50% higher than it is now

What was actually said:

yeah guys there will be a handful of small damage buffs to random moves on irrelevant weapons with larger problems, and no nerfs to dueling sword or the lack of cleave fall off through density with explosions/fire. and probably not a veteran weapon at this rate. also we should probably wait for a couple DLCs to be for sale before touching arbetus because it brings in the money.

They could have really brought in the money if they had new arbities cosmetics ready for when they had an excess of arbities players

What’s the rush? Veteran can not get the new weapons they were promised today or next month, what’s the difference?

Fatshark fundamentally doesn’t understand how hype works: witness how they release trailers AFTER events start.

They also think telling people things is evil. Usually because whenever word leaks of them pulling some player-hostile BS the entire community starts tearing them apart.

September hasn’t ended.

They didn’t say that the next update was going to be in September. (Last year it was October and December).

FS doesn’t communicate in advance cause people are perpetually in unrest (due to them, fairly), so each time they do try to communicate it end up biting them back.

And not enough people, FS need to grow larger, there no other ways around it.

Do thi k they’re working on longer deadline stuff too though (Like Chaos Waste)

Ditto! Why wouldn’t they? It’s a slam dunk!

I mean if we’re being fair it’s much more often because they fail to make deadlines or a planned feature never makes it to release then they get chewed out.

Let’s not forget they actually posted a roadmap early on in VT2 and they seem to have never emotionally recovered from the community response to failing to follow it

If things go the same as last year, we’ll probably get a preview of the update this week or next, with the update itself landing at the end of the month or in the first week of October. The final one will likely arrive before Christmas.
Something like Chaos Wastes sounds interesting, but having too many game modes like in VT2 is a problem.
Above all, a major balance overhaul, a complete rework of Havoc, and on top of that, a new enemy faction with fresh weapons and bosses would be the best.

Maybe we get a preview of some new snazzy macrotransaction recolor skins in the store?

Who wouldn’t love that!
