This game is actually dead

The same happened to vt1&2. They were both successful games that managed to produce a follow up. Its going to be the same with darktide. Players will leave.

Bingo!

been waiting for the first dead game post for a while!

its 7 something AM here GMT on a wet and cold winter tuesday morning, America is asleep europe is getting up and going to school /work and anyone further east than paris is probably there already.

theres 18k people in game last week that was 20 ish. at this time.

thats actually shockingly good retention imo especially when you consider all that is either missing entirely or has a bad placeholder system taped on.

Also I think the game on the microsoft store is more empty than steam depending on where you are coming from.

same issue.

not game dead, quickplay/matchmaking is region based.

i too facing same issue, until now no server browser as VT2.

its good i have a player in another region, i join him and he does the quickplay , we instantly find players.

Is it dead ? Hard to say, on Saturday I couldn’t find any games with real players, and the 3rd and 4th difficulty levels are practically unplayable with bots, so I jumped to the 2nd difficulty level and somehow I was able to play with bots. Yesterday (Monday) I was able to find players even on the 4th level of difficulty without any problems, but it’s for sure because the weekly tasks have been reset, it would probably help if FS added daily tasks. So it’s just people jumping fast on Monday and doing the weekly tasks and then goodbye until next Monday.

ngl this cracked me up

Best line ever lol <3

Damnation is pretty dead no matter the time or day I queue in. Heresy is generally very easy to fill. Normies are improving.

I noticed more bot games past 1 at night EU time.
The dop below 50K players, is not unexpected for me, especially now, when patch is close at hand, year closing and holiday season and some other games have landed or just started their new seasons (Apex, Destiny, CoD etc.)
Let’s face it, until a bigger content drop for DT, the number of players will be steadily going down.
Just a recurring theme for all “live service” games, nothing new.

I imagine you’re right, but the long wait times for a match and getting bots, even during prime us, has me a bit worried. For me the shine hasn’t worn off, even with my many complains. Want this game to make it and be fixed.

I cannot say for US, thus I believe you have issues there that may stem from low active population. Considering US timezones… may be rough.
Sorry to hear that :frowning:

It might be more complex. Like, often a lobby will not fill, but a game will immediately after launch, as if ‘quick play’ has an error with lobbies but easily fills games that are launched.

Could be match maker has a problem…

Vermintide 1 & 2 owns their “alive” status mostly due to modders that persevered and kept adding QoL and fixes to the many mistakes that Fatshark made which eventually had even Fatshark cave in and just add it to the base game. That is why Vermintide 1 & 2 is great, it’s not because of Fatshark.

Darktide 2 is another beast entirely. We cannot mod it, so we can’t add QoL and fixes. It’s no longer peer 2 peer, it’s dedicated servers. So if they do not retain enough people to sell enough cosmetics/DLC, there will come a point in which they don’t earn money and the logical decision will be to stop the service.

  • Hench why it is so damn important that they stop the drop in players.

Game is not dead, far from it, but Darktide 2 can certainly end up as one if there is no profit to be had.

That’s intentional, the game will first try to fill games with people missing, failing to do that it will start a lobby.

I’d like it if we got a “Create lobby” option, but knowing Fatshark, lol never going to happen.

I always use discord for heresy/damnation because in my experience no one queues for Heresy or Damnation unless it’s low intensity.

Game is not dead, but, most players just login to check the store and idle in the lobby, I would want to know how many players are actually engaged in games.

I mostly just sit in the lobby/character selection and login to take notes of weapon, perk and blessing ratings from the store, so I can add it to me Great Book of RNG Evidence.
On occasion I will play a game or two.

Where are the Clown emotes?

Soon™ - also for premium currency for us to gobble it up so FatShark can morph into MorbidlyObeseShark :rofl:

I really like the game and play it a lot. I’m also not afraid of it dying any time soon. Now that those disclaimers are out of the way, at least one of those connections in Steam is pretty often me leaving my client open to check the shop now and then even when I’m not playing. Even with the timeout/reconnect, it’s faster than launching it again.

Not saying there are 50k people doing that, just that there’s at least 1
