There are ways around this, e.g. having a full collection of T4 Blessings count as maximum Mastery progress for that weapon type.
Ah I see - So it means no need to collect T1/T2 blessings. Just pure T4 then that is 100% mastery done.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m just speculating and proposing ways for Fatshark to make the migration as painless as possible. The system is a WIP so nothing I say is definitive.
Is there truely a fair way to compensate players when migrating to the new system?
Since the acquisition rate of blessings in the current system is random, is it fair to just base it on the blessing library?
Some players may have gotten luckly and have a full library in a matter of hours, while others will have been unluckly and still be missing a fair chuck of blessings, even though they have put in more than their fair share of hours/days/weeks…
I’d surrender my whole inventory to get rid of this garbage slot machine crafting system right here right now, and I have weapons that I’d burned A LOT of resources for too. Anything’s better than this.
Actually, it sounds like it’s exactly like that when it says "convert players’ current weapons … into the new system.’ Even the items you built aren’t safe.
The we have the word “Chance.” Not “You will” but “Chance to unlock previously owned.” As in you own it, you are about not to own it, ha ha, but you’ll have a chance to own it again, maybe.
That might not be the best idea.
I’ve seen the following happen in real life.
“That sounds bad, slow down, and tell us more.”
“Oh, just wait and see!”
After
“This is terrible. We need to do something.”
“Ha ha! Too late. Should have said BEFORE it went live.”
“I DID!”
“what?”
Complain before? Too early, wait and see. Complain after? Too late, it’s already done.
ok now that’s an interesting point.
i have collected the relevant blessings so far (like brutal momentum, power cycler etc) and only as tier 4, and not spent my melk bucks on blessings that have little effect.
the “challenge” with the current system imo is not so much owning the right blessings, but applying them onto the chosen weapon.
so does the new system require having a full collection of blessings for the highest mastery, even those blessings one does not want to apply?
I know people are confused by the wording, that’s why I’m telling you what the real intent is.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but you should keep in mind that most of us who frequently visit the forums have already completed the “so-called-item-progression”.
The problem for me has always been the idea that Darktide needs a progression system outside of the personal skill development that you obtain from simply playing the game for multiple hours.
Darktide never needed an ARPG loot grind; yeah, that is my opinion alone, but grinding for random numbers does not improve the game.
For me.
They have mistreated us too many times to trust what we guess the intent might be.
I’m not guessing, though. I’ve playtested the new system and while I’m under NDA so I can’t go into specifics, I think it’s important that you all know that changing/wiping your existing weapons is not part of it.
The question is what advice “can” be divulged in regards to preparation for more head start.
i.e. If I said below and it was validated all points. Then everyone will know exactly what to do in advance in preparation.
- Stop crafting. The locks and bricking element is going to be removed.
- Even if you got better T4 blessings, extract any down to T1 even as that will converted to mastery.
- Weapon drops with blessings where you already have all tiers. That’s VT2 salvage style as Plasteel ready. You’ll need for expertise. Hoard up anything blue/orange for later.
- Melk. Really a blessing shop. Buy weapons to pull all tier T1 to T4 blessings.
- Armory - Buy any weapons you don’t have blessings for. Adds to mastery later
With months ahead until that update comes. That’s months of preparation possible to minimise grind later on.
thanks. i have plenty of blessed top tier weapons, and even more without blessings, waiting for proper treatment without RNG.
sorry i’m late to the party but the title reminded me of
nice to see some late affirmation existing weapons aint gonna change.
This is a big source of relief if true and this is how it will be.
On a similar note - are the weapon masteries shared account wide for weapons that can be used across accounts? Given that blessing libraries are shared, I’d assume the mastery levels would be too. Anything that can be shared on this front?
all i’m saying is that even if you’ve completed what you’ve wanted to, that’s only within the limits of what the game is right now. the new system could potentially expand upon that and make what you’re currently using even stronger. would you not want that over some stagnant blessing and stats that will never improve?
i think being caught up in the idea of, “i spent ‘x’ amount of hours playing this and unlocking ‘a, b, c’, and i don’t want it to be for nothing”, is a bad way to look at it right now. if the new progression system sucks then there’s a reason to be concerned, but from the sounds of it, they made it seem as if they’ve increased the power creep but we just don’t know to what extent yet.
i basically use the same loadouts every mission i play. i might swap between one or two within each class once in a while but i generally stick to one. if i could gradually keep making those loadouts even better, even by a small bit, but at the cost of giving up a bunch of blessings and stuff for other weapons i don’t even use, i’d rather have that.
the game is better off if it’s constantly evolving in meaningful ways. it’s fun now but having something new to work towards, as long as it’s actually rewarding, would be a welcome change.
I won’t give a lengthy response because it would be me reiterating the same thing over and again.
No, I personally do not desire a progression system.
I run and lift weights. My reward for doing so is a higher quality of life, improved health, and a general sense of well-being.
While this is an odd analogy to Darktide, the point I’m trying to make is that the goal of the game is to improve as a player, much as running and lifting weights will not qualify me for the Olympics.
Having fun playing the game and improving is the fun.
I do not want a progression system (grind) that repeatedly resets your progress, like MMORPG users are addicted to in Darktide.
The notion that you can induce a game state that is fair to veterans and newcommers is beyond silly.
There’s no such thing! I did not play for as long as I have to have to REDO it at some point!
The idea that we need some common ground to start into the new system between old and new is particularly vexing as the two groups will never meet until the new effectively joins the old.
Let me keep my hard earned stuff ffs and please make it much easier to get for the newcommers. How hard of a request can that be?
That’s very gratifying to hear. Thank you for relaying it to us.
I don’t know if this is within your power to influence or relay, but for what it’s worth, I’d like to draw attention to one of the core issues at play:
The issue [or one of them, at least] isn’t nessessarily the changes as outlined in the devblog, it’s that it’s kinda ambiguous and, more importantly, a great many of us simply do not trust FatShark. You [like, not YOU specifically] could perhaps call such a reaction exaggerated or gunshy, but the thing is, WHY SHOULD WE? It’s not like we don’t have a lot of examples to pull from. And as you already pointed out, their wording was suboptimal, and in such a situation, it’s easy to fill in the gaps with worst case scenarios, so as to prepare oneself for an expected disappointment. God knows we’ve had our share of those since release.
Again, I don’t know if it’s within your remit to influence that, but follow-ups like yours can do a lot to mitigate and allay those concerns.
