It is a bit ambiguous. FatShark should absolutely clarify what they mean in the future. If I have to do a same or similar grind all over again for weapon blessings I already had then I would quit buying FatShark games indefinitely and encourage my friends to do the same. I am dead serious. I have virtually all blessings, even the new ones; I have earned the right to craft weapons as I see fit.
I can put up with companies who want to make grindy games. I cannot put up with companies that would invalidate the time I have spent grinding because some team of bean counters decided it would be better for the company wallet if they willfully guided their most devoted players into spending their valuable time twice over on grind. Time is the most valuable thing any of us have and FatShark is privileged that we would spend it on their game. Privileges are made to be revoked.
See how even the news of a reset pretty much killed starship trooper extermination for months it took for them to finally bring the class overhaul patch out, and it still hasn’t really recovered. But they are actually early access, so maybe they’ll get a boost when they hit 1.0.
I spent over 1500 hours playing this game, already own literally every blessing on every weapon in the game, and have all weapons in the game within 1 perk and 3% base-stat of a godroll.
The proposed changes sound awful to me, with the new system being nothing more than a scam to get me to play another 1000 hours doing what I have already done. Just like with the new achievement system introduced a couple patches ago, I’m simply not going to do them unless they happen on their own.
Why are we not simply moving into Red items with locks removed for a cost? The answer is, literally every systems change Fatshark does is to maximize player retention for cosmetic purchasing, not player enjoyment. This is why we see nerf after nerf, but pretty much never any meaningful buffs on items and builds. Easy resources gained are bad for player retention.
i can see why this would be concerning for a lot of people but i’m waiting until the update drops before trashing it lol
i get being frustrated after having invested a lot of time into something only for it be potentially become obsolete or pointless but that shouldn’t dictate how changes should be made if it makes the game better as a whole in the long-run.
i think if this new mastery system works the way i think it does, it’d mean being able to consistently progress without having to worry about rng or using potentially infinite amounts of time and resources just trying to get a single blessing; which is a positive in my book.
i’ve put a lot of time into this game as well(1k+ hours at this point) getting all the stuff i have now but i just wanna play the game to have fun and not worry about, “i really wanna get 'x blessing…”.
it sounds like you’re more concerned about having something(blessings) that took you a long time to get and suddenly this new system makes it easier to get for players who hadn’t invested nearly as much. if that’s the case, i mean, i get it, but at the same time, if it streamlines progression and doesn’t make us waste our time and resources anymore, that means more actual fun.
if we can just play the game and get guaranteed progression, that’s a huge plus; where as now, you could have played for 2k+ hours and not even have half the top-tier blessings yet or even a god roll weapon lol
yes, my interpretation is that they assumed most players have only unlocked the blessing they are most interested, and not gone full autistic like myself and collected every single T1s and T2s
i didn’t say anyone had to be fine with it lol i acknowledged that it would be terrible for those that invested alot of time. i have well over 1k hours myself but a better system would be a better system.
we don’t even know what exactly how it works right now, so for all you know, people that unlocked all the blessings could have access to all of them when the new systems drops.
either way, guaranteed progression, especially if it’s so be expanded on in a meaningful way, would be welcome over what we have now. it’s not like anyone uses all the blessings anyways because there’s a very clear tier list and meta for what’s being used. potentially losing a bunch of stuff you don’t even use and making something you use all the time even stronger is a better system, is it not? lol
Not true.
People like grind/progression, if it is done well.
But some people claim that they dislike any type of grind/progression (although they likely actually enjoy it).
You should take Fatshark’s words with a huge grain of salt. Like, boulder-sized.
Me personally, I absolutely hate that there will most likely be even more grind in this game. Like it wasn’t enough already. “Respecting players time”, yeah right.
there is a need to wipe something… the interface.
Combat HUD is not efficient (I use crossair hud mod, and that’s a huge diff), and the menus interface is a mess. No tool to allow us to find what we want or do what we need to do…
no mass sell
restricted ways to sort stuff (here again I use a mod)
no possibility to protect our most beloved weapons (here again I use a mod)
inventory is a mess where you don’t find anything (here I have no solution, the interface is so ugly that no mod can fix that)
This isn’t trully fair. While you could spend that much to get specific blessing, typically you would get dozens of others in the process. There is no way of differenting betwen those you “paid” to get or those you get as a byproducts.
As far as I know, the intent is to translate your Blessings Library (i.e. every Blessing tier you’ve added to your stickerbook by surrendering a weapon to Hadron) into Mastery Experience, which can then be used to repurchase these Blessings in the new system.
The goal is not to wipe existing weapons clean of their upgrades, so you will not lose your current arsenal.
The obvious issue being that if a player has done the sensible thing and ignored obtaining lesser tier blessings the conversation rate could bite them in the ass.
It’s still got the potential to reset hard won progress though by not letting players access things they previously had access to. Which would be awful and infuriating.
