I’m not sure what’s been done but it feels like I’m playing in a series of still frames, the morning star seems to have a small sun inside for lighting, along with a lot of other issues. All the fixes just made the bugs worse for me. Bugs i didnt even notice. Making some of the penances only attainable in private instead of just making them slightly less contrive was not the play.

Private games on Penance

The player base is already so small that the idea of FORCING people to have friends and create private lobbies for the specific purpose of doing penances that are now locked out of pub play is asinine… Prior to this patch I helped people complete their penances all the time. All they had to do was ASK. “can we complete this in 20 minutes”, “sure”, and off we go. This is the worst possible way they could have solved this “problem”. They should have changed the requirements to be easier AND prom…

Yeah this one had me scratching my head.

For one, not everyone has a group of friends to do these with, so screw those people I guess. Also, if a penance requires a whole team to complete it, it should reward the entire team, not just one person.

Really, the penances themselves need to be changed. There simply shouldn’t be any that require the whole team go out of their way to complete them.

It’s especially strange to do this considering that the social systems are so poor.

Like, I understand the rationale behind the change: Having these completable in public games with randos is either near-impossible or just ruins the run for everyone else, but this change just changes the symptoms instead of actually fixing the problem.

That’s not a fix? 3 missions is like an hour? Why would anybody want to sit through that when it has been running fine before? Absolute nonsense.

I’ve tried 5 games so far to try to re correct the shader issue. The game crashes every time, not to desktop; but actually hard freezes the game so I have to restart the PC. Mods disabled, settings verified, threads checked, drivers updated, BIOS updated

“play 3 missions” is not a fix.

TBH I think there’s only an issue here up until they finally include solo as an option for private games. Once that is implemented I’m all for this change. Of course why solo option is taking this long is another big question mark entirely.

If the stutter issue persists, then you can try to delete all shaders and let them recompile fresh:

Press the Windows key + R
Enter %appdata% within the search input and select 'OK'
Navigate to: AppData\Roaming\Fatshark
Delete the Darktide directory
Launch Darktide as normal

Stutter slowly goes away as I play. Only issue with that is the freeze crash doesn’t allow me to finish a single game in order to sort it out completely. So every fresh exe start is a redo

Even tried the experimental build. Probably going to uninstall. @ 600 hours total since beta this is the worst it’s ever been.

While I’m ok with encouraging people to seek private groups, maybe go to Discord and whatnot, I did help someone do the “mind blast a monstrosity, then kill 'em” in a pug with other 2 randoms, it was no issue at all.

I was also able to finish the ‘It’s just a flesh wound’ with pugs under the right conditions and map by simply asking. Everyone was cooperative and we did it with no issue, so forcing it into a private-only thing is indeed a divisive decision for them to make.

It’s especially frustrating for me because the only achievement I have left to do is the psyker solo boss kill. Making it private lobby only was already two shots to the chest, but the final shot to the head was requiring a FULL set of human players because even one bot will just open fire on the boss and ruin the attempt. Since all of my friends quit darktide long ago and the game has no real social features for finding groups outside of quickplay I’m basically locked out of that cosmetic forever now.

You’re not locked out. Huh? Just go to the LFG on the Discord and you’ll get a group for it in no time.

That’s an over exaggeration. You will find players in public matches with whom you can pair up, and you can find Discord communities for Darktide where you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding people for it. I agree though, forcing you to make it private-only was asinine, and the patch even addresses that it’s a way to not break the flow of gameplay for public games, but it’s still dumb that they did it this way.

On the topic of the penances, I’m enjoying having new ones to do and new things to unlock.

They should add new penances more often.
