The reduced availability of ammo feels super bad

Well we will see if this balance stays as it is or if FS decides they’ve over buffed melee in a lot of places. I’d still much rather deal with a group of Ragers by blasting them with brauto than engaging them in melee, so I don’t think I can quite agree that being good at ranged isn’t worthwhile. If I did agree I think that would point to deeper balance issues than Vet themself.

Strong agree. I want dance of death so bad on my brauto Vet, and as I said in another thread, inexorable judgement for that insane fire rate too.

Rending has its place with specific weapons/attacks but putting it on as a generalist talent doesn’t feel great.

I think it would be fine if it was less accessible generally. As far as I’m concerned let that be Vet’s thing, Ogryn doesn’t need it, and for that matter does Vet need 3 different talents for it? Just a toned down onslaught and maybe rending strikes is plenty.

Although I think I perfected killing ragers in melee with Chastize+Caxe in my long hours on Zealot, I was more referring to shootouts/long-range play and not pulling your brace while dodging backward, which is currently just isn’t really happening (long-range play I mean).

I feel like Rending Strikes is more or less fine as a stand-alone Node. Onslaught and Ogryn’s Dominate with Ranged or Batter (bleed) are the actual big issues.

Corruption healing and toughness damage reduction are both better so long as there’s a psyker in the game. Which is like the sun rising in the morning.

I’m not sure I agree but regardless my main point was it’s good enough survivalist shouldn’t really be buffed. Coming up with 2 better than it isn’t much argument against that so gonna avoid going down a aura vs aura battle royale rabbit hole.

The aura itself is fine, in a vacuum.

It’s the other things that were changed that combo it into feeling as bad as it does now.

The old calculation method for ammo return was much more player friendly and ammo return being based on % of reserve, not % of total ammo is unfair to certain guns (like plasma) especially after a reduction in reserve ammo too.

I think you mean much more Ogryn friendly… I’d argue rounding up made it way more assymetric across different guns than storing partials like it does now.

Don’t disagree basing off only reserves is dumb. That definitely should be changed. I consider that more of a fix than a buff I guess since it’s so glaring and bizarre.

Yeah I’m not arguing generally against giving Vet more ammo. In fact I’m cognisant that with how much it’s being asked for there’s a decent chance it’ll happen, and getting a bigger ammo pool already indirectly buffs survivalist.

Regarding Vet ammo I think it’d be pretty cool to give Vet +15% ammo base then move the +25% further up, rather than overloading that talent by just straight boosting it to +40% like I’ve seen a few suggest.

It’s not unfair. Ammo used to be far too abundant.

It is now when an elite/specialist kill doesn’t give you any ammo half the time for a lot of the low reserve weapons.

I feel like the current ammo rate is fine for most weapon but ammo conservation need to be more of a thing for the vet.

I have run damnation with two gatling ogryn and a braced gun zelot and while we were often in yellow and nearing orange we always managed o find enougth to fight.

But weapons like the plasma gun and shotgun are really laking when it comme to kill per ammo efficiency.

Maybe vet should have a way to have a passiv ammo regen (or an additional bonus like its aura) so ammo are still a thing to look for but not too punishing on some weapons.

I just think that Veteran’s 25% more ammo talent should be in an easier to access part of the skill tree.

Ammo changes (and other number tweaks) to many weapons in the provisional patch notes. Check parts 2 and 3 on the Announcements board for details.

Eg: Many guns now have a significantly larger total capacity, meaning you get more from pickups, meaning more shooty. I’m too lazy to work out whether the accompanying tweaks to damage/armour values will have a massive impact right now, but I’m cautiously hyped.

Thanks for listening, FS.

That graia brauto actually looking pretty nice with THAT damn much in reserve with huge mags. Pretty tasty way to make the subpar variants desirable.

Imo it’s more about enemies. We have no stormvermin equivalent including shield version, and shielded trashmobs too, aswell as there is no licher-alike casters-psykers who can just teleport behind you, so range gameplay isn’t realy under pressure in DT.

Another thing i would like to see some more mechanics for ammo regen/efficiency, rather than vet aura, or lucky bullet.

Like killing enemies with bayonet or range weapon special attack grants ammo/chance to refill or something - bash mauler with kickback and loot some ammo.

Been having fun with plasma.

I went for Voice of Command/survivability and feeling good about my ammo management. Did not feel like going for damage nodes and execution stance was giving enough benefit.

So, pretty stoked about the incoming buffs! Right now I’m comfortably 2-shotting most elites and specials with uncharged shots. If the buffs allows it to 1-shot them and allow better ogryn breakpoints, I’ll be happy.

Forgot about this one, someone reminded me of it.

The details in the lobby are sparse though.

Don’t give them ideas. There’s already datamining on boosters.
