We’ve all gotten so used to the bugs that we don’t really place blame appropriately anymore, I think.
I certainly have my moments where I screw up and die as a result, or just can’t cut it in an ultra-difficult moment, but I still feel like the majority of my failures are just a cascade of bugs. Silent Trappers, instant dog pounces, pounces that you dodge yet get hit by anyway, unpushable pox bursters, mission aborts, Captain shield burst damage bug, and everyone’s favorite - enemies still attacking you after you’ve been grabbed by a Beast of Nurgle or Chaos Spawn. Getting shot to death while the Spawn chews on you is not nice.
All it takes is one of these for one player to go down or die, and the entire mission starts a death spiral. If it’s skill-based, that’s one thing. But damn, these bugs are constant. I could not complete a single mission of the new event yesterday, every single one had a Mission Abort for the whole lobby!
If you could count on your dodges to actually WORK with Hive Scum, then the class would be a playable glass cannon. As it is, there is so much that is functionally unavoidable.
I agree it’s ridiculous that these issues get worse as the game continues to receive updates. And Fatshark does not seem interested in fixing any of it either besides the easily reproducible sound mapping issues.
Personally, my biggest issue with Darktide is any and all forms of player input and control (besides the camera) is dictated by the server so you get terrible hit registration, unresponsive controls, undone inputs and jittery gameplay.
I don’t know about the first video as it wouldn’t play , but in the second video where you were the vet with the CAxe, you got shot by the sniper because your dodge ended about .25 to .3 seconds before the shot fired.
Yeah audio cues can be a thing for sure, sometimes on the player end sometimes not… If you are on PC have you heard of the Zipit mod? It can mute non-combat related noise.
Yea I use it occasionally, I kinda like it but not being able to hear voice lines kinda hurts the social aspect of playing together with friends.
Yea I’ve always used those since they became available, Darktide would be significantly more frustrating without those mods. Unmodded players unfortunately will continue to suffer unless Fatshark decides to improve their game’s netcode someday.
God having to play without Guarantee Weapon Swap with blinder builds when the class dropped was hellish; I’d forgotten how critical that mod is just to make the game work
I’d really appreciate it if that doesn’t happen again with the next class FS
Got up to the point over 3 years of raising about audio, ability activations, ghost hits or block/input registration - Decided I’ll just live with it.
I don’t head on block pox bursters anymore. I use doorway walls or corner walls as shield and clip block push otherwise dash away to fire at distance. If too close..yea last resort only head on block, push RNG.
Shouldn’t need mods to just fix issues. I mean if a mod does fix it, then why can’t FS look at the mod itself to see how it is done then see why to nip in the bud.
Just playing Doom Dark Ages, everything is so smooth and instant even if more system demanding game.
Just not sure unreal engine way to go for FS’ next game when I think about Killing Floor 3 and Borderlands 4 shader stutter, examples of horde games. Well depends on graphic fidelity. We’ll see few years time.
Many such cases. There are sections of the maps I dread to enter because you are guaranteed audio for PBs won’t work because of walled areas. Fatshark’s known those areas exist, NO further QA audio passes have been done for them. Also PBs targeting you when you have been eaten by BoN
My favourite this week are snipers. I suspect when their current targets happens to dodge, disappears from the scope for some reason, they can instantly shot at another player in the front of them with no warning audio cue.
This will improve as Hive Scum hype wears off, and you see lobbies which aren’t full of players unfamiliar with the class and we get more balanced team compositions.

It’s pathetic, the Technical forum has been choke full of reports for three years, they mark it and then never ever try to improve the situation probably because they’re too busy getting endless praises from midwit redditors where they take their invaluable feedback from

Yeah that used to happen a fair bit to me up to about just over a year ago I think (around the time of the patch before Havoc was added iirc); from then until now it was working near perfectly.
However, since the update to Guarantee Weapon Swap that fixed the “auto-dump-all-blind-grenades” within the last few days, I’m starting to have those issues again.
Overall, I’d say the risk of that happening to me currently is well worth being able to actually retain control of my inputs in the vast majority of situations, but don’t get me wrong, when it buggers up and locks you into just standing there, unable to do basically anything, it’s just as rough and annoying as the vanilla game dropping your inputs and swapping you back etc.
In the end, I’m gonna stick with it, but I don’t blame folks for not wanting to deal with it atm.
nothing beats having your client show melee weapon in push-position only for the server give you a nu-uh and puts back your ranged (and your pants down )
It seems like the “Nimble” talent actually REDUCES your dodge frames against ranged attacks, including nets.
It also seems like the Precision Violence talent (toughness on hit) gets disabled by other talents and doesn’t function once it gets disabled.
I think these things go a long way towards making the class feel vulnerable
Yeah, Hyper-Violence (the overkill node) breaks Precision Violence (the toughness regen node), and Critical- Violence (the node that kills if the dmg is < double the crit dmg) does not count toward Hyper-Violence and does not proc Precision Violence either.
