The next BBB - List of Balance Concerns: Shade, Gk, Bw, Ranged Classes and More - Feedback and Suggestions

Because these traits are a must-have for the typical zealot build. If you add it to another talent it wouldn’t solve the zealots’ problem playing the usual build without annoyances. If the build is OP, the devs could make nerfs to these traits. (I don’t say a nerf is needed btw.)
The other choices on these levels should support those players who don’t want to play on very low green HP, aka with 6 stacks of Fiery Faith.

none of that solves zealot’s problems though aside from the thp thing

What other significant problems does zealot actually have though? Sure he’s got a load of bad talents and only one build, but every other career has the same issue.

yeah to be a bit more blunt about it I’d like to overhaul/balance all of those lmao

there’s probs also an argument to be made that his passive isn’t “engaging” enough but that’s separate from balance issues

I also find the lack of build diversity and multitude of bad talents to be obnoxious. But it’s been exactly like that nearly three years at this point and has rarely, if ever, shown signs of improving.

At some point I think it makes sense to stop worrying about trying to get Fatshark to make balance perfect and focus on sorting out unfun edge cases like outside healing screwing over the zealot. Not that they will.

Holy fortitude is best in slot but Armor of Faith isn’t bad, 30% DR is 30% DR.
The meme that is Crusade isn’t bad either, just different, movement speed generally has a hard time competing with DR or any survivability buff.

Slapping a talent that converts green HP into THP wont fix the problem, it would just feel bad, leading players into a pigeon hole.
e.g Giving up Castigate just because twitch mode is on or a WS/GK/heal share ally is in the party is pretty silly.

To make things clear, Zealot has 2 problems and 1 gripe.

  • Otherwise supportive elements like green health regen is not only detrimental but unavoidable. Negatively affecting Fiery Faith.

  • Heart of Iron is inconsistent, just not proccing or proccing too late (Damage bypassing Heart of Iron)

  • Zealot more specifically Fiery Faith could be expanded on. It’s not very engaging and with the current iteration of Fiery Faith, Zealot doesn’t feel like a flagellant career beyond dropping below 30 green health.

obviously
whether or not these problems exist it’s quite futile for me to spend my time and creative energies designing talents. It’s not my job. I will be happy if I can make a minimod for myself to test some of my weapon ideas. That seems way simpler.

Iam not sure how much I can laugh about that. Wasnt the only reasoning in the patch notes about the “slight” attack speed nerf to Exe for overpicking?

The next thing they do is introduce a weapon that is everything people wanted to make the executioners look like. Cog has 2h Hammer heavy attack cleave numbers with a tank modifier on light attacks that take 0.6 seconds to pull off. Executioners has crap all cleave and it takes nearly a flat second for its second swing. Ontop of that every damage number is higher on the Cog.

The only thing the executioners has going for it is 20% crit chance on its heavy. If extra crit chance on attacks comes with that price tag, some other weapons need serious whacking.

yeah, pretty unfortunate reasoning

Personally I’m bit surprised coghammer is not talked about more. Exe nerf craze was going on for a good while but now we arguably got better exe in almost every way and that’s fine?
Anyways I really want just some consistency in weapon design/balance. IF exe is problematic then coghammer most certainly is.

Its just that its a dawi weapon. He has short arms - he needs this, come on!

Probably because nobody liked the exe nerf. So getting a new weapon that is just old xsword isn’t going to attract much ire.

True and its most likely but it would also necessitate reverting the exe nerf. At this point I don’t care which choice is taken I just want some dam consistency.

We play the wrong game, dude.

Its irritating as hell. There was a bunch of people who wouldnt want to talk about anything but the Exe being broken because of its “fantastic” wave clear, while dealing with armor targets. Then came the “overpicking” as nerf reason, that just made the weapon horrible on everyone but merc and as heavy spam tool on GK.

None of those people came back to rant about the Coghammer, which is a straight upgrade to the old Executioners, with actually amazing cleave values, not just numbers that get bloated by Mercs passive.

The reason it didnt get picked up much is most likely because people played it on Engi, who cant handle that weapon at all thanks to his nonexistant moveset. I presume most didnt even try that weapon on other careers after they got slaughtered with it on its home career.

The whole situation should and could have been handled differently. There was enough talk in the forum to come up with a good solution. The reasoning FS delivered for the nerf and the arrival of Cog leaves only questions.

It’s really not all that complicated if you look at FS history. New weapons are almost always extremely overtuned and then get nerfed with time. It promotes the purchase of new DLC’s. The coghammer really isn’t any more OP than the masterwork pistol. Then you look at B-sword, Axe Falchion, T-spear, etc etc. It’s a pretty clear pattern. Make strong, fun new weapons and people will more likely buy your DLC. Also, new weapons tend not to break the game like OP careers do. See: Kaboom spam BW or current shade.

Elgi 1hAxe, and the arrival state of Mace&Sword dont quite add up to that story. Engi, a new career, is also not quite a power house.

Other companies do that power up stuff non stop. In FS case it seems alot more like they press buttons and want to fix it later. Not the worst thing to do, if they wouldnt take ages to get the fixing done.

Mace & sword was actually nerfed after release. It was very strong for the first few weeks of its existence. And I know careers aren’t as strong. That’s because making broken careers breaks the game.
