The longer we go without word, the more it seems that the 'itemization update' will be bad

I admire your patience.

Would that I had more than one like to give. Gordian Knot, Sisyphean… Oh be still my beating linguist’s heart!

Gotta put that English Lit Ba to use (sure isn’t for income).

Just, anything.

It’s fine if it’s gotta launch alongside the massive Helldivers patch, that’s just the reality of the situation Darktide is in. Fatshark took too long and now they have competition.

Just, anything. We’re dying on the vine here. Not nothing that looks like anything, that’s what we’ve been getting for a very long time now.

Anything.

Yep. Anything.

Hey @FatsharkStrawHat I can’t help but notice the empty gaping, yawning, cavernous void of not seeing a Dev Blog. Or any other form of communication. At all.

At game launch, someone asked on one of the forums if they planned to sell red weapons (they had been seen in a pre-launch dev stream) and in response they declared they had no intent to monetize character power in any way.

So far, they’ve kept true to that.

I still wonder if Fatshark understands that they have competition. They’re not like Creative Assembly where they’re the only ones producing Total War style games with that mix of RTT and grand campaign strategy. They make 4-player co-op horde games, the only thing that’s special is the GW license, and that only makes it possible to sustain yourself off a fanbase that already wastes hundreds of dollars on plastic crack. It won’t make you a success, it just won’t make you a complete failure.

Don’t even bother. Strawhat’s just vanished into the ether outright since they announced the new ‘moderators’. I think he’s just given up on coming here.

Catfish, meanwhile, was last seen in April and hasn’t actually posted anything since March.

Huh. Maybe StrawHat caught whatever Catfish has.

I guarantee you every single emoji took the CMs a week of begging and another week of paperwork

Nah, it’s the gameplay.

Well… yeah? Kinda?
The melee system is unique and fun for sure, but the rest?
Ah, right there is also crafting, but that’s not a positive.

I don’t believe a single soul who has played hundreds of hours but doesn’t think the gameplay is the defining feature and selling point of the Tide games.

Pretty much how I feel. I love the game play loop, but everything else is kancer.

Darktide has very good gameplay. Thats why i play darktide.

That’s why we all play! Even the people who swear they think FS are awful, stupid monsters are enthralled by the gameplay, and we’re all here fiending for every morsel of info we can get about the game because of it.

Middling gameplay, but everything else the same, and I wouldn’t be here that’s for sure.

I selflessly volunteer myself for an all expenses paid + consultancy fee work placement for one week (yes, just one week is all I need) in Sweden, and for that I will happily help reshape all the existing blessings* , help eradicate all the superfluous weapon Marks, and help produce a balance that is toight.

I’m happy to work with a few colleagues if democracy is a thing you value?

(*NB future weapons will include one knife, one sword, and one single secondary weapon per class).

It is, it is, but the crafting and RNG EVERYWHERE it’s just killing it for me.
Imagine, if you will, a masterfully prepared bloody steak with baked potato and some grilled weggies. It smells delicious, it tastes heavenly…

And every time you take a bite, someone jumps out and kicks you in the nutsack or twists your nipple.
That is my experience with Darktide.

Apologies, but I’ve become allergic to analogies ('n those others) and cannot read most of your post.

But I like your image, and I want to give your post a response equal in effort and breadth, so…I will say that your image reminds me of the incredible rhythm I get into with some weapons in the Tide games. Even in other games I love, like Remnant, I’ve never quite found that feeling!

Fingers crossed for this rework!

Yes, they are good at gameplay - but it’s not a unique genre. It’s ‘merely’ a good execution of a type of game.

That isn’t unique to the company - and the guy responsible for a lot of it is now gone.

Losing key personnel, key visionaries, took Obsidian from making a Fallout game so incredibly popular that people are still debating it over a decade later to making a relatively mediocre space-RPG.
