Sup. I realize that since i started the game in the last week, EVERY single game the heretics get all their focus on me. Example, i play as Sharpshooter and stay behind everyone in the group, and then when the special heretics appears(specially Mutants, Hounds, Trappers and Moulers), they simple ignores everyone in front of them to reach me, who is exactly the last one of the group. Even the snipers when they have clear sight on my friends right in front of them they simple ignores everyone and focus their fire on me(and im behind everyone). That happens to someone else?
I have no idea if you are new to the game or not, so I will say some basics. Also, a caveat, I didn’t play vet much before patch 13. It’s gameplay before the changes felt stale and too meta for my liking.
You cannot stay behind the group too much, the game director will purposefully spawn specials to nail you. I’m sure you know that even if you stay with the group, enemies don’t just spawn in the front of you and especially at higher difficulty you get surrounded. Also don’t expect to always run with your gun out, even as a vet. Other people are unlikely to be able to cover you, they are going to be busy holding their own, hopefully in close proximity. Melee is part of the game, the trick with the vet more than with any other class is knowing when to switch to save yourself and/or your team.
You could try building around Infiltrate with Low Profile, it will give you get out of the jail free card.
to hammer this point home, think of the AI director as an Enemy player in control of spawning in enemies, so he basicly tries to make the actual players fail, if an player is way further away of the rest of the team, he will focus everything he has on this isolated target, because its an easy target.
in essence it replicates what players in left 4 dead versus have done before
“overwhelm the most vulnerable target”
wich can come in different shapes and sizes but being too far away to your group is the easiest mistake to recognize and eliminate
It’s just in-game Vet Hate, borne out of over a year of best-in-game jealousy.
Try playing Ogryn and watch how the hordes flee your BO.
It’s not about spawns but about aggro, and aggro is very strange in DT indeed. It’s especially noticeble on “waves of mutants” condition even if a whole party stay close all 10 or whatever mutes may completely ignore me despite i’m at the front, sometimes it’s the opposite.
