The experimental branch fixed severe audio and video stuttering with an older AMD CPU and GPU

Issue Description (Required):

I had severe stuttering issues while playing this. The audio almost never wasn’t stuttering. I have never heard that happen on this computer. With any kind of action, the audio would break up, along with the frames per second. I did not turn on the steam FPS overlay until I got the beta, and I forgot to check temps on the CPU/GPU until I had done so! Maybe it was overheating! Not cool!

But the FPS now is just fine. I normally cap at 120 and am running at half resolution, which is 1280x720 for me. I see 120 in the lobby easily. I don’t know that I ever look at the FPS while in-game. It’s smooth!!! I’m whacking heads. I’m not dying in melee combat because the frames are dropping like crazy.

A year ago and 2 years ago when I was playing, this absolutely was not an issue! But I’m pretty sure I was using the windows fullscreen mode that you disabled.

I hope you push these fixes out soon!!! There are a lot of people on steam complaining about performance issues, most or all that I saw have AMD CPUs. They are getting stupid advice to try to fix it when it seems obvious to me that this beta will do the job.

Are you really sure you want to remove that fullscreen mode? A lot of people used that for a good reason, and I am not in the habit of trusting Microsoft when they say they fixed anything.

Attempted Solutions (Optional):

I lowered all of the settings, turned off portrait rendering, and it marginally helped.

The experimental branch solves the issues completely, it seems. Or at least it’s so smooth I just keep playing the game without noticing problems.

I also tried editing the config file as another post has suggested, after using the beta. I didn’t notice much and it was reset soon after by an update. I haven’t tried that again yet.
